CreativeMode works for both Minecraft Java Edition and Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
CreativeMode supports Java 26.1, 1.21.5, and 1.20.1. CreativeMode's Java mods use Fabric.
The CreativeMode Launcher is the easiest way to install and test Java mods. Exact manual requirements are available for Java 26.1, 1.21.5, and 1.20.1.
New Bedrock creations require Minecraft Bedrock 1.26.50 or later. Bedrock updates itself, so you are almost certainly on a supported version already. Bedrock creations download as .mcaddon files and do not need a separate mod loader.
Choose Windows, mobile, or console in the interactive install guide, or see Installing Bedrock Add-ons.
Java and Bedrock are separate Minecraft platforms. A Java mod cannot be installed directly in Bedrock, and a Bedrock add-on cannot be installed directly in Java.
Choose Java when you play Minecraft Java Edition on a computer. Choose Bedrock when you play the version available on Windows, mobile devices, Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo Switch.
Some features are implemented differently on each platform. Things that work on Bedrock may not work on Java and vice versa.
1.21.5 Java mods can be ported to Java 1.20.1. Porting is currently a beta feature and creates a separate mod.
Porting does not convert Java mods to Bedrock or Bedrock add-ons to Java. If you would like a Java mod on Bedrock, the best bet is to recreate it using the same prompts. See Porting Versions for more details.
