Publishing Mods

You can get your mod on the public Explore page. This is a great way to share your creation with the community and get downloads and feedback!

The process#

  1. Test your mod with Quickplay — actually play with it for a bit
  2. Upload at least one screenshot or video to the gallery
  3. Click "Request Publication" on your mod page
  4. Confirm you've tested it and agree to guidelines
  5. Wait for review

You'll get an email when it's approved! If you made a great mod, it will be featured on the front page of the website!

Requirements#

Gallery content: At least one image or video. Multiple screenshots of the mod in action are better than one.

Testing: You need to have actually tested it to make sure it works as expected.

What happens after approval#

Your mod shows up on Explore where people can search for it and download it.

What happens after rejection#

You'll get an email explaining why. Common reasons:

  • Mod doesn't work as described
  • Not tested enough (obvious bugs)
  • Too similar to existing published mods
  • Gallery images are missing or unclear
  • Description doesn't match what the mod actually does

You then have a chance to fix the issues and resubmit. Most rejections are fixable.

Tags#

You should add relevant tags before publishing. They make your mod discoverable.

Good tag categories include:

  • Mod type: weapon, armor, mob, block, food
  • Theme: fantasy, sci-fi, medieval, modern, nature
  • Features: explosive, flying, magic, tech
  • Game mode: survival, creative, multiplayer

Tips for approval#

Before submitting:

  • Test each of the features of the mod
  • Take multiple gallery screenshots
  • Write a clear description that matches what the mod does
  • Add relevant tags to the mod
  • Use a descriptive title
