Item Duplicator is a Java Edition 1.20.1 Fabric mod built around duplicating any item when you supply enough copper and gold fuel. A full suite of supporting automation — fuel generators, a compressor chain, three grabber types, a storage cube, a shredder, and infinite-resource blocks — gives you everything needed to go from early-game gathering to legendary item duplication.
| Content | Description |
|---|---|
| Item Duplicator | Duplicates a target item when fuelled with copper/gold |
| Fuel Compressor | Compresses nuggets → ingots → blocks for copper and gold |
| Shredder | Converts junk items + glass bottles into Bottles o' Enchanting |
| Contained Curse of Midas | Infinitely outputs gold nuggets via attached hoppers |
| Paradox Contained Curse of Midas | Infinitely outputs Paradox Copper Nuggets via attached hoppers |
| Block Grabber | Right-click any block to pick it up as an item, including normally unobtainable blocks |
| Mob Grabber | Right-click any mob to capture it as a spawn-egg-like item |
| Fluid Grabber | Right-click any fluid source to capture it in a bucket-like item |
| Item Grabber | Siphons all items from storage blocks, mobs, or players into a Storage Cube |
| Storage Cube | Fireproof 54-slot portable container; preserves contents through placement and breaking |
| Paradox Copper Nugget | Custom nugget; 9 craft into a copper ingot; valid fuel for the duplicator and compressor |

The duplicator runs in 100-tick cycles. Each cycle costs Copper Fuel Units (CFU) and Gold Fuel Units (GFU) based on item rarity:
| Tier | Examples | CFU | GFU |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 – Common | Stone, planks, dirt, gravel, cobblestone | 5 | 0 |
| 2 – Uncommon | Iron ingot, coal, leather, feather, book, copper ingot | 18 | 0 |
| 3 – Rare | Diamond, ender pearl, blaze rod, obsidian, most music discs | 45 | 9 |
| 4 – Epic | Netherite ingot, trident, nether star, Otherside/Pigstep discs | 81 | 45 |
| 5 – Legendary | Elytra, beacon, totem of undying, heart of the sea, dragon egg | 250+ | 250+ |
Items not on any explicit list default to Tier 1.
Fuel cross-substitution rules:
Fuel breakdown cascade — materials are fractured progressively as fuel is demanded:
copper_nugget / paradox_copper_nugget → 1 CFU eachraw_copper → 4 CFUcopper_ingot → 9 CFU (split into 9 nugget-equivalents on demand)copper_block → 81 CFU (split into ingots, then into nuggets)raw_gold → 4 GFUOnly what is needed for the current cycle is consumed. Partial breakdowns persist between cycles — no wasted fuel.
Mid-cycle fuel loss: if fuel runs out while a cycle is running, DuplicationProgress freezes. When fuel is restored the cycle resumes from exactly where it stopped — no progress is lost.
Redstone acceleration: surrounding the duplicator with Redstone blocks speeds up the duplication rate. Up to 8 adjacent Redstone blocks are recognised, each adding speed. This is configurable.
Mass Production Mode activates automatically when both an input hopper (above) and output hopper (below) are connected. After each cycle the machine immediately pulls the next non-fuel item from the top hopper and begins a new cycle without player input.
Manual input GUI: when no input hopper is connected above, right-click the duplicator to open a single-slot GUI. Place the item you want duplicated there. The item is stored as the target; the slot retains the item until you manually remove it. There is no fuel slot in the GUI — fuel is always loaded via inventory or top hopper.
On cycle completion: a bell sound plays and a burst of gold and copper particles erupts from the block.
Automatically compresses copper and gold materials up through their tiers:
Paradox Copper Nuggets are treated as copper throughout — they compress into copper ingots, not gold.
Hopper connections:
Adjacent Redstone blocks increase compression operations per tick for faster throughput. Chain two compressors with hoppers — the first converts nuggets to ingots, the second converts ingots to blocks — for a fully automated compression line.
Accepts two inputs via hoppers:
Consumes one trash item and one glass bottle every 10 ticks to produce one Bottle o' Enchanting. Connect a bottom hopper to collect output automatically.
Place and connect hoppers to any side. Continuously outputs gold nuggets into connected hoppers indefinitely — a passive infinite gold supply for fuel or other uses.
Identical to the Contained Curse of Midas but outputs Paradox Copper Nuggets. These nuggets:
Early game — grab what you need: Craft a Block Grabber first. Collect rare or unobtainable blocks from the world without needing Silk Touch or specific drops.
Establish infinite fuel: Craft a Contained Curse of Midas (8 gold blocks + nether star) for infinite gold nuggets, or a Paradox Contained Curse of Midas (8 copper blocks + nether star) for infinite Paradox Copper Nuggets. Pipe nugget output into Fuel Compressors.
Build a compression chain: Place two Fuel Compressors connected by hoppers — the first converts nuggets to ingots, the second converts ingots to blocks. Surround compressors with Redstone blocks to maximise throughput. This gives you dense fuel reserves for high-tier duplication.
Start duplicating: Place an Item Duplicator, load fuel into its inventory (or via a top hopper), right-click to set a target item, and place a hopper below to collect output. For continuous hands-free operation, use a top hopper for items and fuel and a bottom hopper for collection — this activates Mass Production Mode.
Accelerate: Place up to 8 Redstone blocks adjacent to the duplicator to speed up its cycle. Run multiple duplicators in parallel for different items simultaneously. Use the Item Grabber and Storage Cube to move large quantities of loot between machines quickly.
Legendary tier: Duplicating Tier 5 items (elytra, beacon, totem of undying, dragon egg, etc.) demands very large simultaneous reserves of both CFU and GFU — no substitution is allowed. Build fully compressed fuel stockpiles from both Midas farm types before attempting these items.
