Block Flipper Spatula

Quickstart

1. Craft the Block Flipper Spatula using the recipe below.
2. Hold it in your hand and right-click (use) on a block that has a facing, axis, or orientation — like a log, furnace, dispenser, stairs, or piston.
3. Watch the block spin into its next orientation with a satisfying flip sound!
4. Repeat to keep cycling through the block's available orientations.

Overview

The Block Flipper Spatula is a simple but handy tool for tidying up your builds. Instead of breaking and replacing a block just to fix its orientation, give it a quick smack with the spatula to rotate it in place.

What It Adds

• Block Flipper Spatula — a single-use tool item that rotates the orientation of blocks it's used on.

How To Use

Right-click any placed block with the spatula in hand. The spatula checks the block for a rotation-related property and cycles it to the next value:

• Facing blocks (like dispensers, droppers, observers) rotate to their next facing direction.
• Horizontally-facing blocks (like furnaces, chests, stairs) rotate around the horizontal directions.
• Axis-based blocks (like logs, pillars) cycle between their X, Y, and Z orientations.
• Rotation-based blocks (like signs, banners, skulls) cycle through fine-grained rotation steps.
• Half-based blocks (like slabs, stairs, trapdoors) flip between their top/bottom halves.
• Horizontal-axis blocks cycle between horizontal axis orientations.

If a block has none of these properties, the spatula will simply do nothing — it won't break, place, or affect blocks without an orientation to change.

Each successful flip plays a light "click" sound and slightly wears down the spatula's durability, so it isn't infinitely reusable — keep spare materials on hand to craft another one when it wears out.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Block Flipper Spatula using iron ingots and a stick in a shovel-like shape:

The spatula also behaves like a shovel for tool-related purposes, so it fits naturally alongside your other tools in the toolbar or hotbar.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Single-target use: The spatula only affects the exact block you click on — it doesn't have an area of effect.
• Durability: The spatula has limited durability and takes damage each time it successfully flips a block. Once depleted, it breaks like any other tool.
• No block removal: Using the spatula never destroys, replaces, or drops blocks — it only changes their existing orientation state.

Progression And Strategy

Keep a Block Flipper Spatula in your building kit whenever you're placing directional blocks like stairs, logs, furnaces, or dispensers. It saves time compared to breaking and re-placing blocks to get the orientation just right, and it's especially useful for fine-tuning decorative builds after the fact. Since it wears out with use, consider stocking a few iron ingots and sticks so you can craft replacements as needed.
