Gatling Laser

Quickstart

1. Craft a Fusion Core to power your weapon.
2. Craft the Gatling Laser itself.
3. Make sure you're carrying at least one Fusion Core in your inventory.
4. Hold the Gatling Laser and press and hold the use item control (right-click by default) to fire.
5. Aim at enemies or blocks and keep holding the button — the laser fires rapidly and continuously as long as you hold it and have charge remaining.

Overview

The Gatling Laser is a long-range energy weapon that fires a continuous, rapid stream of damaging laser bolts instead of single shots. It's powered by Fusion Cores, a craftable energy source that must be consumed to keep the weapon firing. Both items can be found in the Combat creative tab.

What It Adds

How To Use

• Firing: Hold the use-item control while aiming the Gatling Laser. It will keep firing automatically in rapid bursts for as long as the button is held and power remains.
• Ammo: Each Fusion Core loaded into the weapon provides many shots before it's consumed and a new core is automatically pulled from your inventory. If you run out of Fusion Cores, the weapon stops firing.
• Aiming: The laser fires a straight beam from your eyes outward in the direction you're looking. It stops at the first solid block it hits, and will damage the first living entity in its path.
• Range: The beam travels a very long distance, letting you engage targets far beyond normal melee or bow range.
• Creative Mode: Players in Creative Mode with unlimited resources don't need to carry Fusion Cores — the weapon will fire without consuming them.

Crafting And Obtaining

Both items are crafted at a crafting table.

Fusion Core — combines copper, glowstone dust, redstone, and an ender pearl:

Abilities And Mechanics

• The Gatling Laser deals solid damage per hit and fires very frequently, making it effective for sustained damage output against tough enemies.
• Each shot leaves a glowing cyan particle trail tracing the beam's path, so you can see exactly where your laser travels.
• The beam damages the closest valid target in its path — blocks stop the beam, and living entities standing in the way will be hit before anything behind them.
• One Fusion Core provides a large number of shots before being consumed, letting you sustain fire for a long time before needing to reload with another core.

Progression And Strategy

• Keep a stack of Fusion Cores in your inventory during extended fights — the weapon will automatically pull a fresh one in when the current core runs out.
• Because the beam travels in a straight, unbroken line, use elevated positions or open areas to make the most of its long range.
• The rapid rate of fire makes the Gatling Laser especially strong against groups of enemies or high-health targets that would otherwise take many separate hits to bring down.
