Description:
The Crimson Beast Wolf is a fearsome corrupted wolf that roams the overworld. Sporting grotesque zombie-like features and an eerie red glow, it is one of the most dangerous creatures you can encounter. With enormous health and powerful bites, a single wolf is a serious threat — and they never travel alone. For the brave (or well-prepared), these monsters can be turned into formidable loyal companions using one of the rarest items in the game.
| Content | Description |
|---|---|
| Crimson Beast Wolf | Hostile mob — corrupted wolf with high health and savage melee attacks |
| Beast Wolf Head | Trophy item that can be placed as a decorative block |
| Crimson Beast Wolf Spawn Egg | Creative-mode egg to spawn the wolf directly |
Crimson Beast Wolves are territorial and attack players on sight. When one is provoked or engages a target, it broadcasts aggression to all nearby Crimson Beast Wolves within 32 blocks, meaning the entire pack will join the fight. Their anger is permanent until they are calmed (through taming) or killed.
To tame a Crimson Beast Wolf, hold a Nether Star and interact with it. The taming attempt has a 100% success rate — the challenge is surviving long enough to use it. Once tamed:
Feed your tamed Crimson Beast Wolf meat or fish to restore its health:
| Food | Heal Amount |
|---|---|
| Porkchop | 6 HP |
| Cooked Porkchop | 16 HP |
| Raw Fish / Salmon | 4 HP |
| Clownfish / Pufferfish | 2 HP |
| Cooked Fish | 10 HP |
Crimson Beast Wolves drop the following when killed:
| Drop | Quantity | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| Rotten Flesh | 2–5 | Always |
| Bone | 1–4 | Always |
| Poisonous Potato | 1–2 | ~33% chance, player kill only |
| Leather | 1–2 | ~25% chance, player kill only |
| Beast Wolf Head | 1 | 25% chance, player kill only |
| Nether Star | 1 | ~10% chance, player kill only |
| XP | 5–10 | Player kill only |
Looting enchantments increase the quantity and chance of most drops.
Early encounters: Avoid Crimson Beast Wolves until you have strong armor and weapons. Their pack aggression mechanic means fighting one usually means fighting two or three.
Taming: The Nether Star required for taming is obtained by defeating the Wither boss — a significant milestone. Once you have one, you can attempt to tame a wolf. Because taming success is guaranteed, a single Nether Star is all you need (as long as the wolf doesn't kill you first).
The Beast Wolf Head trophy: There is a 25% chance a wolf you personally kill drops its head. Place the Beast Wolf Head as a decorative block to display your victory. It mines quickly with an axe.
Using your tamed wolf as a companion: A tamed Crimson Beast Wolf is an extremely powerful combat ally with 130 HP and 8 damage per hit. It teleports to keep up with you, making it reliable in most situations. Keep meat in your inventory to heal it after tough fights.
