    Wolf

    Description:

The Beast Wolf is a nightmarish, corrupted wolf with grotesque zombie-like features and an eerie red glow; it's fiercely territorial and attacks on sight, boasting high health and savage bites. They now spawn extremely rarely and appear in small packs of 2–3 anywhere in the world, day or night. They can only be tamed with a Nether Star, becoming loyal pets that follow, sit, teleport to and defend you, and have a 25% chance to drop a Beast Wolf Head trophy when killed by a player.

    Mod Wiki

    Crimson Beast Wolf

    Quickstart

    1. Find a pack — Crimson Beast Wolves spawn naturally anywhere in the world, on the surface, at any time of day. They are extremely rare, so explore widely or use a Crimson Beast Wolf Spawn Egg in Creative mode to meet one immediately.
    2. Survive the encounter — they attack on sight, so come prepared with strong armor and weapons.
    3. Tame one — hold a Nether Star and interact with the wolf to tame it. Success is guaranteed once you get the interaction off.
    4. Enjoy your companion — your tamed wolf will follow you, sit on command, teleport to you when you're far away, and defend you in combat.

    Overview

The Crimson Beast Wolf is a fearsome corrupted wolf that roams the overworld. Sporting grotesque zombie-like features and an eerie red glow, it is one of the most dangerous creatures you can encounter. With enormous health and powerful bites, a single wolf is a serious threat — and they never travel alone. For the brave (or well-prepared), these monsters can be turned into formidable loyal companions using one of the rarest items in the game.

    Abilities And Mechanics

    Combat Stats

    • Health: 130 HP — substantially tougher than most vanilla mobs
    • Attack Damage: 8 per hit
    • Knockback Resistance: 40% — hard to stagger
    • Movement Speed: Fast, with a wide follow range of 35 blocks
    • Size: 1.5× the scale of a standard wolf

    Hostile Behavior

Crimson Beast Wolves are territorial and attack players on sight. When one is provoked or engages a target, it broadcasts aggression to all nearby Crimson Beast Wolves within 32 blocks, meaning the entire pack will join the fight. Their anger is permanent until they are calmed (through taming) or killed.

    Spawning

    • Spawns in small packs of 2–3
    • Appears anywhere on the surface, day or night
    • Spawn rate is extremely rare

    Taming

To tame a Crimson Beast Wolf, hold a Nether Star and interact with it. The taming attempt has a 100% success rate — the challenge is surviving long enough to use it. Once tamed:

    • The wolf follows you automatically
    • You can command it to sit to keep it in place
    • It teleports to you if you get too far away or if it is panicking
    • It defends you by attacking anything that hurts you, and attacks anything you attack
    • It can be leashed

    Healing Your Tamed Wolf

Feed your tamed Crimson Beast Wolf meat or fish to restore its health:

    FoodHeal Amount
    Porkchop6 HP
    Cooked Porkchop16 HP
    Raw Fish / Salmon4 HP
    Clownfish / Pufferfish2 HP
    Cooked Fish10 HP

    Drops

Crimson Beast Wolves drop the following when killed:

    DropQuantityCondition
    Rotten Flesh2–5Always
    Bone1–4Always
Poisonous Potato1–2~33% chance, player kill only
    Leather1–2~25% chance, player kill only
Beast Wolf Head125% chance, player kill only
Nether Star1~10% chance, player kill only
    XP5–10Player kill only

Looting enchantments increase the quantity and chance of most drops.

    Progression And Strategy

Early encounters: Avoid Crimson Beast Wolves until you have strong armor and weapons. Their pack aggression mechanic means fighting one usually means fighting two or three.

Taming: The Nether Star required for taming is obtained by defeating the Wither boss — a significant milestone. Once you have one, you can attempt to tame a wolf. Because taming success is guaranteed, a single Nether Star is all you need (as long as the wolf doesn't kill you first).

The Beast Wolf Head trophy: There is a 25% chance a wolf you personally kill drops its head. Place the Beast Wolf Head as a decorative block to display your victory. It mines quickly with an axe.

Using your tamed wolf as a companion: A tamed Crimson Beast Wolf is an extremely powerful combat ally with 130 HP and 8 damage per hit. It teleports to keep up with you, making it reliable in most situations. Keep meat in your inventory to heal it after tough fights.
