Cotton Candy Sniffer
Quickstart
- Open your creative inventory and search for Cotton Candy Sniffer Spawn Egg.
- Use the egg on grassy ground in a plains, meadow, cherry grove, flower forest, or sunflower plains biome (or just place it anywhere via the egg in Creative).
- Approach the sniffer holding Torchflower Seeds — it will follow you.
- Feed it torchflower seeds to heal it, breed a pair of adults, or grow up a baby.
- Watch for its sniffing, searching, and digging animations as it hunts for buried seeds and pods.
Overview
The Cotton Candy Sniffer is a friendly, pastel-colored twist on the classic Sniffer mob. It wanders peaceful biomes, sniffing out seeds from the ground, and can be tamed-in-spirit through feeding, bred, and raised from a baby into a full-grown adult. It behaves much like its vanilla counterpart but with a sweeter, cotton-candy appearance and a distinct set of sounds.
What It Adds
- Cotton Candy Sniffer — a large, gentle passive mob with a light blue and pink color scheme.
- Spawn Egg — lets you place the sniffer directly into your world.
- Natural spawning in surface biomes: meadow, plains, cherry grove, flower forest, and sunflower plains, usually in small herds of 1–2, during daylight-level brightness.
How To Use
- Spawning: Use the spawn egg on the ground, or let sniffers spawn naturally in supported biomes.
- Taming interest: Hold torchflower seeds to tempt a sniffer to follow you.
- Feeding: Feed torchflower seeds to heal the sniffer (2 health per feeding) and to grow baby sniffers into adults faster.
- Breeding: Feed torchflower seeds to two adult sniffers to start breeding. A pregnant sniffer will eventually pop out a sniffer egg item, which can hatch into a baby.
- Leashing: The sniffer can be leashed like other passive mobs, and reacts specially when leashed alongside a Happy Ghast.
- Interacting: Right-click/use on the sniffer to interact with it directly.
- Behavior to watch: Sniffers periodically stand up, sniff around, search the ground, and dig — this is how they hunt for buried seeds. They also occasionally show a "feeling happy" animation.
- Safety: Like other mobs, they take damage from lava and will panic and flee if hurt.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for this mod — the Cotton Candy Sniffer is obtained only through its spawn egg or natural world spawning.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Health: 14 hit points.
- Movement: Walks, can climb, avoids water and damaging blocks, and floats if it ends up in liquid.
- Diet: Torchflower seeds are used for feeding, healing, breeding, and growing babies.
- Loot: Defeating a sniffer may drop torchflower seeds, and sometimes pitcher pods, porkchop, or moss blocks, especially when killed by a player.
- Herding: Naturally spawns in small groups of 1–2.
- Experience: Breeding and player kills grant small amounts of experience.
Progression And Strategy
Since the Cotton Candy Sniffer only needs torchflower seeds to feed, heal, and breed, gathering a steady seed supply is the key to raising a herd. Breed adults to hatch sniffer eggs, then feed the resulting babies torchflower seeds to speed their growth into adults. Keep sniffers away from lava and let them roam flowery biomes where they'll naturally search and dig for hidden treasures.
