Mod Wiki
Crimson Allay Guardian
Quickstart
- Find a Crimson Allay Guardian Spawn Egg in Creative mode, or summon one with:
/summon com_crimson_allay_guardian_i4dmsmgz:myallay - Use redstone on the untamed guardian. Each guardian is guaranteed to become tamed when given redstone.
- Once tamed, it follows you and attacks nearby mobs that threaten you. It begins with a netherite sword and deals 15 damage per melee hit.
- Use the guardian normally to exchange items with it. Do not sneak while interacting; sneaking prevents the item interaction.
Overview
The Crimson Allay Guardian is a flying companion that protects its owner. It can be tamed with redstone, follows across the Overworld, collects matching dropped items, and joins combat against nearby mobs.
A tamed guardian has:
- 300 health — 150 hearts
- A flying movement style with no gravity
- A follow distance of up to 16 blocks before it starts following
- Automatic teleporting when it gets more than 24 blocks from its owner
- Automatic teleporting when it is panicking and more than 12 blocks away
- Immunity to damage from its own owner
- A single inventory slot for carried items
What It Adds
Crimson Allay Guardian
The guardian is a crimson-colored allay with a red spawn egg. Untamed guardians are neutral and can be found naturally in suitable Overworld locations.
After taming, the guardian:
- Follows its owner
- Attacks mobs within 32 blocks when it can see them
- Defends its owner when the owner is hurt
- Attacks a target the owner attacks
- Flies around its owner and avoids sinking in water
- Can be named with a name tag
- Can be leashed
How To Use
Taming
Give an untamed guardian redstone. It is guaranteed to tame when fed redstone. The guardian changes to its tamed crimson state and becomes your companion.
Redstone also attracts untamed and tamed guardians, allowing you to guide one toward you.
Combat
A tamed guardian attacks visible mobs within 32 blocks, excluding other Crimson Allay Guardians. It also reacts when:
- A mob attacks its owner
- Its owner attacks a mob
Its melee attack deals 15 damage and has a short attack cooldown. The guardian can fly toward targets, making it useful against mobs on uneven terrain or in the air.
The guardian does not attack its owner. It can still be harmed by environmental hazards, including lava.
Item Exchange
Interact with the guardian without sneaking to exchange items. Its interaction can give it an item or take its carried item.
The guardian can pick up dropped items that match the item it is currently carrying. It searches up to 32 blocks away and can collect items across a tall area around itself. After throwing an item to its owner or a note block, it briefly pauses before picking up another item.
Delivering Items
A guardian can deliver carried items to its owner. It can also bring items to a nearby note block and remain near that note block.
To use a note block as a delivery point:
- Place and activate a note block.
- Keep the guardian within range of the note block.
- Let the guardian collect matching dropped items.
- The guardian brings collected items to the note block when appropriate.
A guardian stays near a note block when it is within 16 blocks and stops maintaining that position after moving within about 4 blocks of it.
Following And Teleporting
The guardian normally follows its owner, staying nearby while flying. It does not teleport simply because it is outside its normal following distance, but it can teleport when the separation becomes large:
- More than 24 blocks from its owner
- More than 12 blocks away while panicking
Use a leash when you need to keep it in a specific area. Its leash distances are approximately:
- Soft distance: 4 blocks
- Hard distance: 6 blocks
- Maximum distance: 10 blocks
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for the Crimson Allay Guardian.
Creative Mode
Use the Crimson Allay Guardian Spawn Egg, or use the summon command:
/summon com_crimson_allay_guardian_i4dmsmgz:myallay
Natural Spawning
Untamed guardians naturally spawn:
- On the surface
- In the Overworld
- At brightness levels from 9 through 15
- In groups of one
Their natural spawn weight is low, so using the spawn egg or summon command is the most direct way to find one.
Abilities And Mechanics
Flying
The guardian hovers and flies without gravity. It can path through the air and over water, but avoids water and hazardous blocks. It cannot pass through doors.
Owner Protection
A tamed guardian recognizes the player who tamed it as its owner. It protects that player by targeting nearby mobs and retaliating when the owner is attacked.
The owner cannot damage the guardian through ordinary attacks against it.
Health And Hazards
The guardian has 300 health. Lava damages it for 4 points every game tick while it remains inside lava. Keep it away from lava despite its large health pool.
Equipment
A newly spawned guardian holds a netherite sword. The sword can be exchanged through normal interaction.
Drops
When a Crimson Allay Guardian is defeated, it can drop:
- 1–3 redstone
- 0–2 crimson fungus
- A netherite sword in rare cases
The netherite sword drop requires the guardian to be killed by a player and has a base chance of 2.5%. The sword has randomly generated damage, so it may be partially damaged. Looting provides a small additional chance.
Progression And Strategy
- Carry redstone when searching for an untamed guardian so you can tame it immediately.
- Keep the guardian close during exploration; it can teleport back if it becomes separated.
- Let the guardian engage mobs while you focus on ranged attacks, building, or movement.
- Use a leash near dangerous terrain to prevent the guardian from drifting away.
- Use a note block as a home delivery point for collected items.
- Avoid lava, since the guardian takes continuous lava damage.
- If you need the starting netherite sword, exchange it with the guardian rather than defeating your companion.
