Diamond Longshot Hammer

Quickstart

1. Obtain a Diamond Longshot Hammer from the Creative inventory, or craft one at a crafting table.
2. Hold the hammer in your main hand or off-hand.
3. Aim at an entity and use the hammer’s throw action.
4. Try throwing from different distances. Hits deal more damage the farther the projectile travels.

The hammer has a short half-second cooldown between throws and cannot be charged for extra launch power.

Overview

The Diamond Longshot Hammer is a throwable weapon designed for ranged attacks. Its impact damage increases with the distance between you and the target, rewarding accurate throws from farther away.

How To Use

Hold the hammer and aim at an entity. Use the normal item-use control to throw it.

The projectile travels in the direction you are looking. The throw does not become stronger if you hold the use button longer, so release timing does not affect its launch strength.

After throwing, wait for the brief cooldown before throwing again. For maximum damage, create distance from your target and aim carefully before launching.

Abilities And Mechanics

Longshot Damage

When the hammer hits an entity, its damage is calculated from the distance between your position when throwing and the target’s position:

Damage = 4 + 1 for every complete 3 blocks of distance

Examples:

Longer throws are more powerful, but they also require more careful aim.

Durability

The hammer has 1,561 durability. Using it for melee attacks or throwing it can eventually wear it down.

Progression And Strategy

• Use close throws when you need a quick attack and do not have room to retreat.
• Back away from hostile mobs before throwing to increase impact damage.
• Practice against stationary targets to learn how far the projectile travels.
• Keep a backup weapon for close combat while using the hammer as a ranged option.
• Make use of the off-hand slot when you want to keep another item ready in your main hand.
