Gilded Thorn Whip

Quickstart

1. Craft the whip at a crafting table:

1. Equip the Gilded Thorn Whip in your hand.
2. Find a cow and attack it with the whip.
3. A burst of critical-hit particles marks the harmless skin-harvesting action. The cow is not hurt.

You can also find the whip in the Equipment section of the Creative inventory. For commands, use:

/give @s com_gilded_thorn_whip_57mwardm:my_sword

Overview

The Gilded Thorn Whip is a specialized harvesting tool for cows. Strike a cow with it to harvest its skin without killing or injuring the animal.

The whip is a single-item tool with 36 durability and cannot be stacked.

What It Adds

• Gilded Thorn Whip — a hand-equipped tool for harmlessly harvesting cow skins.
• A critical-particle effect when the whip successfully hits a cow.
• A cow-safe hit interaction that restores the cow after contact.

How To Use

Hold the whip in your main hand and use the normal attack control while targeting a cow. The interaction only activates when the whip hits a cow.

When used successfully:

• Critical particles appear above the cow.
• The cow remains alive and unharmed.
• The cow is restored immediately after the hit.

Hitting other types of entities does not activate the whip's cow-harvesting effect.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the whip at a crafting table using gold nuggets, an iron nugget, leather, and sticks.

The recipe creates one Gilded Thorn Whip. The whip also appears in the Creative inventory under Equipment.

Abilities And Mechanics

Cow-Safe Harvesting

The whip is designed specifically for cows. Its special effect is restricted to cow targets, allowing you to use it without damaging the animals you are harvesting from.

Durability

The whip has 36 durability. Repeated use wears it down, so keep an eye on its durability bar during extended harvesting.

Enchanting

The whip uses the sword enchantment category, so it can be treated as a sword-type item when checking available enchantments.

Progression And Strategy

• Craft the whip as soon as you have gold nuggets, an iron nugget, leather, and sticks.
• Keep cows in a fenced pen so they are easy to target repeatedly.
• Use the particle burst to confirm that the whip connected with a cow.
• Bring or prepare a replacement once the whip’s durability becomes low.
