Dead Parrot

Quickstart

1. Craft the Dead Parrot item using an Ender Pearl, an Ender Eye, and a Stick.
2. Select the Dead Parrot item from your hotbar and place it on the ground like any block.
3. Right-click (or tap, on touch devices) the placed parrot to hear its classic squawk sound effect.
4. Place a few in a row for a silly decorative display — it always faces the direction you were looking when placed.

Overview

Dead Parrot is a purely decorative addition themed around the classic "parrot sketch." It adds one novelty block: a stiff, motionless parrot that you place in the world for laughs. It doesn't do anything mechanically important — it's a prop for builds, dioramas, and comedic set pieces, with a sound gag built in for anyone who interacts with it.

What It Adds

• Dead Parrot (item) — A placeable item found under the Construction category of your creative/survival inventory.
• Dead Parrot (block) — The decorative block that appears once the item is placed. It has a cross-shaped model and behaves like a piece of scenery: it doesn't move, attack, or interact with mobs beyond letting entities stand on it.

How To Use

• Placing: Use the Dead Parrot item on any surface to place the block. It automatically orients itself to face north, south, east, or west based on the direction you were facing at the time of placement.
• Interacting: Right-click or tap the placed block to trigger its signature squawk sound. You can do this as many times as you like — it never runs out.
• Removing: Mine the block like a normal decoration; it breaks quickly (about 1.5 seconds) and is destroyed instantly by explosions.
• Standing on it: Entities and players can walk on top of a placed parrot, since it supports standing like a solid surface.

Abilities And Mechanics

• The Dead Parrot has no combat abilities, animations, or AI — it is a static decoration, not a living entity.
• Placing it plays a short "no more" sound effect for flavor.
• Interacting with it plays a separate squawk/sketch audio clip, referencing the classic bit the mod is themed around.
• Its collision and selection boxes are sized to match its cross-shaped model, so it visually and physically resembles a parrot propped up on a perch or stand.

Progression And Strategy

There's no progression system attached to Dead Parrot — it's a one-item novelty mod meant for build decoration and comedic use. Craft as many as you like and scatter them around your builds, shops, or bases for atmosphere. Since the crafting ingredients (Ender Pearl and Ender Eye) are typically obtained in the mid-to-late game, consider it a fun little reward to place once you've started exploring the End dimension or trading with piglins/villagers for those items.
