Mod Wiki

Wardstone Giant

Quickstart

  • Find a monster spawn biome and wait — Wardstone Giants spawn naturally, usually in groups of 2 to 4.
  • Alternatively, get a Wardstone Giant Spawn Egg from your creative inventory and use it to spawn one instantly.
  • Keep your distance until you're ready — these giants are colossal, incredibly tough, and hit like a truck.
  • Let one wander near your village; it will automatically fight off hostile mobs and illagers that threaten villagers.
  • Defeat one (carefully, and with backup) to collect stone materials and a chance at rarer loot like iron, emeralds, or amethyst.

Overview

The Wardstone Giant is a towering guardian made of living stone, twice the size of a normal humanoid mob. It roams the world in small groups, silently patrolling until danger appears. Rather than attacking players on sight, it acts as a natural defender — smashing through monsters, illagers, vexes, and ravagers that get too close to villages or to the giant itself.

What It Adds

  • Wardstone Giant — a massive stone golem-type mob that spawns in monster-eligible biomes, usually underground or on the surface in dim light.
  • Wardstone Giant Spawn Egg — lets you place a Wardstone Giant anywhere from creative mode.
  • A themed loot table dropping stone materials, natural debris, and a chance at metal or gem rewards.

How To Use

  • Spawning naturally: Wardstone Giants appear in groups of 2–4 in dim, monster-eligible areas (surface or underground), on any difficulty.
  • Spawning manually: Use the Wardstone Giant Spawn Egg on any block to place one directly.
  • Interacting: You can interact with a Wardstone Giant, though it has no trading or riding functionality — it simply stands as an imposing, nameable ally.
  • Naming: Give it a name tag to make it permanent and easily identifiable.

Abilities And Mechanics

  • Massive size and toughness: Wardstone Giants have 300 health and heavy knockback resistance, making them extremely difficult to knock around or kill quickly.
  • Crushing attacks: They deal devastating melee damage and can unleash a wide-ranging stomp attack that hits multiple nearby enemies at once.
  • Village defenders: When a monster, illager, vex, or ravager comes within range, a Wardstone Giant will automatically target and attack it — even without provocation.
  • Retaliation: If attacked by hostile mobs, illagers, vexes, or ravagers, the giant fights back immediately.
  • Effect resistance: Immune to poison and wither effects, so those tactics won't slow it down.
  • Mobility: Moves at a measured but steady pace, wandering and looking around when not engaged in combat.
  • Not player-hostile: Wardstone Giants do not target players directly — they focus on monsters and raid-type threats.

Progression And Strategy

  • Because of their massive health pool and hard-hitting attacks, defeating a Wardstone Giant is a serious undertaking best approached with strong gear, allies, or ranged tactics.
  • Letting them roam near your base is a great passive defense strategy, since they'll intercept hostile mobs before they reach you or your villagers.
  • Defeating one rewards useful building materials (cobblestone, cobbled deepslate, mossy cobblestone) plus decorative drops (moss, vines, seagrass), and — if you land the final blow yourself — a chance at iron ingots, iron nuggets, emeralds, or even a rare amethyst shard.
  • Occasionally, a Wardstone Giant may spawn alongside a villager-linked variant, adding variety to encounters near settlements.
