Trotter

Quickstart

1. Enter the Nether and look for Trotters on netherrack, basalt, soul sand, soul soil, crimson nylium, or warped nylium. They spawn in groups and prefer dim areas.
2. In Creative mode, find the Trotter Spawn Egg or summon one with: /summon com_trotter_zvu4vxxv:mystrider
3. Give an adult Trotter a saddle, then interact with it to ride.
4. While riding, hold a warped fungus on a stick to steer. Use the item to give the Trotter a temporary speed boost.
5. Carry a piece of golden armor when approaching wild adults. Trotters generally ignore players wearing at least one golden armor piece, but they retaliate if attacked.
6. Keep Trotters away from water. They are fireproof and can walk across lava, but water harms them.

Overview

Trotter is a piglin-strider hybrid built for the Nether. Adults are aggressive Nether mobs that can be saddled and ridden, while babies follow their parents and grow into adults.

Trotters:

• Are immune to fire.
• Walk across lava and move toward nearby lava.
• Avoid water, which damages them.
• Are attracted to players holding gold ingots.
• Can be bred with warped fungus.
• Can be leashed and named.
• Have randomly assigned cold and warm visual variants.

How To Use

Finding and Spawning Trotters

Trotters naturally spawn in Nether biomes on the following blocks:

• Netherrack
• Crimson nylium
• Warped nylium
• Soul sand
• Soul soil
• Basalt

They spawn in groups of 2–4 when the light level is 11 or lower. Natural spawns can occur from Peaceful through Hard difficulty.

In Creative mode, use the Trotter Spawn Egg. You can also use the summon command:

/summon com_trotter_zvu4vxxv:mystrider

Saddling and Riding

Use a saddle on an unsaddled adult Trotter, then interact with it to mount. Each Trotter has one seat.

While mounted:

• Use movement controls to steer.
• Hold a warped fungus on a stick to control the direction.
• Use the warped fungus on a stick to boost the Trotter.
• Crouch or sneak before interacting if you want to avoid mounting.

The warped fungus on a stick loses durability when used for boosting. When it breaks, it is replaced by a fishing rod.

Removing a Saddle

To remove a saddle, dismount first and interact with the saddled Trotter while holding shears. You must not be sneaking, and the Trotter must have no rider. The shears lose durability and the saddle drops.

Breeding

Feed warped fungus to two adult Trotters to breed them. The parents produce a baby Trotter.

Baby Trotters follow their parents and grow up after about one minute. Feed them more warped fungus to help them mature.

Abilities And Mechanics

Lava and Water

Trotters are adapted to the Nether:

• They are immune to fire.
• They can walk on and through lava.
• They move toward nearby lava when outside it.
• They avoid water.
• Contact with water damages them.
• They become visibly shaky when away from lava.

Use lava paths, boats are not required, and keep water away from Trotter enclosures.

Adult Combat

Adult Trotters attack:

• Players who are not wearing golden armor.
• Hoglins.
• Skeletons.
• Withers.

Attacking one can alert nearby Trotters of the same type, so fighting a group can quickly become dangerous. A golden helmet, chestplate, leggings, or boots helps prevent an adult Trotter from selecting you as a target, but it does not stop retaliation if you attack.

Baby Trotters do not have the adult combat behavior.

Gold Attraction

Trotters are tempted by gold ingots held in a player’s hand. Use this to draw them toward a safe location, pen, or lava route. Gold attraction does not tame a Trotter.

Natural Jockeys

Natural spawns may appear in several forms:

• A solo adult Trotter.
• A baby Trotter.
• An adult Trotter carrying a baby Trotter.
• An adult Trotter carrying a zombified piglin.

The adult Trotter with a zombified piglin rider is saddled and can still be ridden if the rider is removed.

Crafting And Obtaining

Trotters do not have a crafting recipe. Obtain them by:

• Finding them naturally in the Nether.
• Using the Trotter Spawn Egg in Creative mode.
• Summoning one with com_trotter_zvu4vxxv:mystrider.

Adult Trotters can be bred using warped fungus, allowing you to raise more Trotters without relying on natural spawns.

Adult Drops

An adult Trotter can drop:

• 1–3 string, with a chance for an additional piece from Looting.
• 1–2 porkchops.
• Cooked porkchops if it dies while on fire.
• 1–2 gold nuggets when killed by a player, with a 10% base chance increased by Looting.
• A saddle if the Trotter was saddled.

Player kills also provide experience. Breeding Trotters provides a small amount of experience as well.

Progression And Strategy

• Wear at least one piece of golden armor when scouting areas with Trotters.
• Use warped fungus to lure, breed, and raise them.
• Build pens away from water and include lava if you want them to remain comfortable and active.
• Saddle an adult for Nether travel across lava.
• Keep a warped fungus on a stick ready for steering and boosting.
• Use shears to recover a saddle from a Trotter when it is safely dismounted.
• Avoid attacking a group unless you are prepared for nearby Trotters to join the fight.
