That's no ordinary rabbit! Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide. It's a killer!
Mod Wiki
Killer Rabbit Of Caerbannog
Quickstart
- Open your inventory or the Creative menu and find the Killer Rabbit Of Caerbannog Spawn Egg (a white egg with a dark red overlay).
- Place it in your hand and use it on grass, snow, or sand to spawn the rabbit.
- Watch out — despite its cute appearance, this rabbit will actively hunt and attack you and other nearby creatures.
- Keep your distance or be ready to fight back; it's fast, aggressive, and hits hard for its size.
- Defeat it to collect hide and, occasionally, a lucky rabbit's foot.
Overview
The Killer Rabbit Of Caerbannog looks like an ordinary, harmless rabbit — small, fluffy, and unassuming. In truth, it's a vicious predator that will chase down and attack almost anything that crosses its path, including players. It behaves like a normal rabbit in most ways (breeding, growing up, fleeing danger) but turns deadly the moment it spots a target.
What It Adds
- Killer Rabbit Of Caerbannog — a hostile rabbit-type mob that spawns naturally in the wild.
- Spawn Egg — lets you place the rabbit directly in Creative or Survival worlds.
- Rabbit Hide — a crafting/trading material dropped by the rabbit.
- Rabbit's Foot — a rare drop obtained from defeating the rabbit.
- Multiple coat color variants (brown, white, black, splotched, desert, and salt-and-pepper), just like ordinary rabbits, though all share the same deadly behavior.
How To Use
- Spawning: Use the spawn egg on grass, sand, snow, or snow layers to place a rabbit. In the wild, it naturally appears in taiga, snowy, desert, meadow, cherry grove, flower forest, grove, and snowy slope biomes, usually in small groups.
- Combat: The rabbit will actively seek out and attack nearby creatures (including you) once it notices them within a short range. It moves quickly and strikes with surprising force, so treat it as a genuine threat rather than a passive animal.
- Taming/Feeding: It isn't tameable, but it can be lured and fed with carrots, golden carrots, or dandelions. Feeding two adults together lets them breed and produce baby rabbits.
- Baby Rabbits: Young rabbits are harmless-looking miniatures that grow into full killer rabbits over time. They follow adult rabbits around until they mature.
- Fire and Lava: Like other mobs, it takes damage from lava, and its drops can end up cooked if it dies while on fire.
- Leashing: The rabbit can be leashed and led around like other passive-looking mobs, though it will still attack targets if given the chance.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no crafting recipes for this mod — everything is obtained through spawning, breeding, or defeating the rabbit in the world.
- Spawn Egg: Available directly from the Creative inventory.
- Rabbit Hide: Dropped when the rabbit is defeated; used for typical rabbit hide purposes such as crafting leather-related goods.
- Rabbit's Foot: A rare drop, more likely with a weapon enchanted with Looting, and only obtainable by killing the rabbit yourself.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Aggressive Targeting: Unlike ordinary rabbits, this one actively searches for and attacks any nearby creature that isn't its own kind, including players.
- High Damage Output: Its attacks deal significantly more damage than a normal rabbit's kick — enough to catch unprepared players off guard.
- Fast and Erratic Movement: It flees rapidly when panicked and can leap and dodge, making it tricky to pin down in combat.
- Garden Raiding: Like normal rabbits, it will path toward carrot crops and eat them if left unguarded.
- Breeding: Two adults fed the right food will produce offspring, which grow up over time into new killer rabbits.
Progression And Strategy
Treat any rabbit you see in these biomes with caution — its size and appearance are deceiving. Approach with a weapon ready, or lure it with carrots to control the encounter. Farming the rabbit for hides is straightforward, but the rabbit's foot requires patience (and ideally a Looting-enchanted weapon) since it's an uncommon drop tied specifically to player kills. Breeding pairs in a safe pen can provide a steady supply of hides for players who want to avoid open combat with wild groups.
