Raccoon Lootwolf
Quickstart
- In Creative mode, search for Raccoon Lootwolf Spawn Egg and use it to spawn one.
- In Survival, look for Lootwolves on the surface of eligible biomes at night or in low light.
- Keep valuable items out of your hand when approaching a wild Lootwolf. If you interact while holding a non-bone item and are not sneaking, it can take that item.
- To tame one, use bone on it. Each attempt has a chance to succeed.
- After taming, feed it meat or fish to heal it. A tamed adult has much more health and no longer steals items from players.
- To spawn one with a command, use:
/summon com_raccoon_lootwolf_abclrqoz:mywolf
Overview
Raccoon Lootwolf adds a raccoon-like wolf mob that collects items and hunts for loot. Wild Lootwolves pick up dropped items, can steal the item in a player's hand, and attack several passive and hostile mobs.
Tame one to turn it into a loyal companion with increased health, owner protection, following, teleporting, breeding, and wolf armor support.
What It Adds
- Raccoon Lootwolf mob
- Raccoon Lootwolf Spawn Egg
- Wild and tamed behavior
- Item pickup and loot-stealing interactions
- Nine biome-linked appearance variants
- Taming and breeding
- Wolf armor equipment, removal, and repair
- Natural spawning in forests, taigas, jungles, swamps, and groves
How To Use
Staying Safe Around Wild Lootwolves
A wild Lootwolf can steal from a player when all of the following are true:
- You are not sneaking.
- You are holding an item other than a bone.
- You interact with the Lootwolf.
Sneak before interacting if you want to avoid the stealing interaction. Holding a bone also prevents the stealing interaction and lets you attempt to tame it.
Wild Lootwolves also pick up dropped items within roughly 8 blocks. Do not drop valuable items near one unless you are prepared for it to collect them.
Taming
Use bones on a wild Lootwolf. Each bone has a 33% chance to tame it, so several attempts may be required.
Once tamed:
- It stops stealing items from players.
- Its maximum health increases to 40.
- It deals 4 melee damage.
- It follows its owner and can teleport back when it gets far away.
- It attacks skeletons and helps defend its owner.
- It can be healed, dyed, leashed, named, bred, and equipped with wolf armor.
Collecting Items
Lootwolves have a nine-slot inventory and can pick up any dropped item. This makes them useful around farms, battlefields, and mining areas, but dangerous around dropped valuables when they are wild.
Healing
Heal a Lootwolf with suitable food, including:
- Porkchop or cooked porkchop
- Beef or cooked beef
- Chicken or cooked chicken
- Mutton or cooked mutton
- Rabbit or cooked rabbit
- Rotten flesh
- Fish, salmon, clownfish, or pufferfish
- Cooked fish or cooked salmon
- Rabbit stew
Crafting And Obtaining
Raccoon Lootwolves are not crafted.
Natural Spawning
They spawn on the surface in light levels from 0 to 7. Groups usually contain one or two Lootwolves, although Groves produce solitary spawns. Natural spawn locations include:
| Biome | Valid surface blocks |
|---|
| Taiga | Grass blocks |
| Cold taiga | Grass blocks, snow, and snow layers |
| Mega taiga | Podzol, grass blocks, and coarse dirt |
| Jungle edge | Grass blocks |
| Grove | Grass blocks, snow, and snow layers |
| Swamp | Grass blocks |
| Jungle | Grass blocks |
| Forest | Grass blocks |
Lootwolves do not naturally spawn in every biome that can display one of their appearance variants. For example, the Savanna and Mesa appearances can be obtained by spawning the mob in those biomes.
Creative Mode
Use the Raccoon Lootwolf Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory.
Abilities And Mechanics
Wild Behavior
Wild Lootwolves:
- Pick up dropped items.
- Attack skeletons, sheep, rabbits, foxes, and land-based baby turtles.
- Avoid llamas.
- Become angry after acquiring a target.
- Can leap at targets and perform melee attacks.
- Panic around hazards such as fire, lava, campfires, lightning, freezing, and magma blocks.
A wild Lootwolf has 8 health and deals 3 melee damage.
Tamed Behavior
Tamed Lootwolves:
- Follow their owner.
- Teleport back when they are far away in certain situations.
- Attack skeletons.
- Defend their owner when the owner is attacked.
- Attack targets their owner attacks.
- Can sit and stay in place.
- Have 40 health and deal 4 melee damage.
Growth And Breeding
Wild Lootwolves can spawn as babies or adults. Babies are smaller and grow into adults after about 60 seconds.
To breed Lootwolves:
- Tame two adult Lootwolves.
- Make sure both are at full health.
- Feed both one of the following foods:
- Chicken or cooked chicken
- Beef or cooked beef
- Mutton or cooked mutton
- Porkchop or cooked porkchop
- Rabbit or cooked rabbit
- Rotten flesh
Breeding produces a baby Lootwolf. Breeding also grants experience.
Appearance Variants
Lootwolves can have different coats depending on the biome in which they spawn:
- Pale — regular taiga
- Ashen — cold taiga
- Black — non-mutated mega taiga
- Chestnut — mutated mega taiga
- Rusty — jungle and jungle-edge biomes
- Snowy — Grove
- Spotted — Savanna
- Striped — Mesa
- Woods — eligible forest biomes
Wolf Armor
An adult tamed Lootwolf can wear Wolf Armor.
- Hold Wolf Armor and interact with the Lootwolf to equip it.
- The owner can remove the armor by interacting while holding shears.
- The owner can repair damaged Wolf Armor by making the Lootwolf sit, then interacting while holding an Armadillo Scute.
- Armor cannot be equipped on a baby Lootwolf.
Drops
Loot drops only when a player kills an adult Lootwolf.
One common loot roll selects from the following weighted results:
| Drop | Selection weight | Amount |
|---|
| Leather | 7 | 0–2 |
| Rabbit Hide | 4 | 0–1 |
| Bone | 2 | 0–1 |
Looting can increase the amount obtained. There is also an additional 8% chance to drop 1–2 Iron Nuggets, with Looting increasing this chance.
A player-killed adult Lootwolf can also grant 1–3 experience points.
Progression And Strategy
- Keep bones in your hotbar when approaching a wild Lootwolf so you can tame it without risking the item in your hand.
- Sneak when interacting with an untamed Lootwolf if you do not want to tame it or risk losing a held item.
- Clear dropped items from the ground before bringing a wild Lootwolf near valuable loot.
- Tame a Lootwolf early if you want a combat companion that does not steal directly from your hand.
- Use a leash to keep a Lootwolf near a base, farm, or hunting area.
- Let a tamed Lootwolf collect battlefield drops, but avoid scattering rare items where it can pick them up accidentally.
- Keep the Lootwolf healthy before breeding, since both parents must be at full health.
- Look in different eligible biomes to find different coat variants.
