Ka Specter

Quickstart

1. Open your inventory and find the Ka Specter Spawn Egg (dark purple with teal speckles).
2. Place it anywhere in your world — inside a desert pyramid for the full atmosphere, or anywhere else you like.
3. Do not hold a valuable item when you first approach. The Ka Specter will steal whatever is in your hand if you get too close.
4. Watch it patrol, listen for its eerie groans, and keep your distance — or prepare to fight it and reclaim your stolen goods.

Overview

Ka Specter adds a single, haunting new mob: the Ka Specter, an undead spectral guardian inspired by the guardians of ancient pyramids. It resembles an Allay with a ghostly custom texture and drifts silently through the air trailing wisps of fog and descending smoke. It never despawns and cannot be tamed, bred, or shoved aside — once placed, it is a permanent fixture of its location.

How To Use

Spawning

Ka Specters only appear when spawned with the Ka Specter Spawn Egg. They do not spawn naturally. Once spawned, they are permanent — they will never despawn on their own.

Patrol Behaviour

After spawning, the Ka Specter hovers and drifts within roughly 20 blocks of its spawn point, emitting deep, eerie groaning sounds at regular intervals. It leaves a subtle trail of fog and soft smoke as it moves. During this patrol phase it ignores players entirely — as long as you stay far enough away.

Aggro and the Steal

When a player comes within 10 blocks, the Ka Specter locks on. It lets out a blood-curdling Ghast-like scream and rushes toward you. If it closes to within a very short range, it rips the item currently in your hand directly out of your inventory — the full stack you were holding disappears from your hotbar slot and appears visibly carried in the Ka Specter's grasp.

After stealing, the Ka Specter turns and flees back toward its patrol area at high speed, carrying your item. It will continue to flee from players for as long as it holds something stolen.

Tip: The Ka Specter only steals your currently selected hotbar item. Switch to an empty hand slot or a disposable item before approaching if you want to bait it safely.

Recovering Your Items

The only way to get a stolen item back is to kill the Ka Specter. On death, it drops whatever it stole directly at its location. Kill it quickly before it escapes back to the depths of its patrol!

Progression And Strategy

Early encounters: The Ka Specter is a significant threat when you are carrying good gear. Its item-steal ability can strip your sword, your food, or your best tool out of your hand in an instant. Fight it at range using a bow before it can close the gap.

Luring safely: Equip an empty hand or a junk item (like dirt or a single plank) in your hotbar before approaching. The Ka Specter will steal your "bait" item and flee. Now you have time to chase it and attack from behind while it tries to escape.

Pyramid exploration: Placing a Ka Specter inside a desert pyramid creates an authentic guardian encounter. Its patrol will keep it contained to a reasonable area, making for a repeatable dungeon-boss-style challenge.

Looting enchantment: A sword enchanted with Looting significantly improves your chances of obtaining Phantom Membrane and Gold Ingots — the rarest and most valuable drops. A Looting III sword raises the Phantom Membrane chance to about 30%.

Permanent placement: Because Ka Specters never despawn, you can use them as permanent guardians for player-built structures or custom dungeons in your world. Place one, and it will patrol that spot indefinitely.
