Iron State Wrench

Quickstart

1. Craft an Iron State Wrench at a crafting table:

1. Hold the wrench in your hand.
2. Use it on a block with the interact/use button.
3. Use it repeatedly to cycle the block through its available state values. Try it on a door, slab, stair, trapdoor, or directional block.

In Creative mode, you can also obtain one with:

/give @s com_iron_state_wrench_7jsq2ltd:my_sword 1

Overview

The Iron State Wrench is a single-use-at-a-time tool for changing block states without breaking and replacing the block. Depending on the block, it can rotate the block, toggle it, or cycle another property such as its orientation or level.

How To Use

Hold the wrench and use it directly on the target block.

Each use advances the first compatible state the block can change. Use the wrench repeatedly to cycle through that state’s values. For example:

• Directional states can cycle through horizontal or vertical directions.
• Axis states can cycle through x, y, and z.
• Boolean states such as open, powered, or hanging can toggle.
• Slabs can cycle between bottom, top, and double variants.
• Blocks with attachment states can cycle between floor, wall, and ceiling.
• Numeric states can cycle through their available range, such as levels, ages, power, or moisture.

Only valid block permutations are applied. If a block has no compatible state, using the wrench does not change it.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the wrench at a crafting table using iron ingots and a stick. The recipe can be unlocked with either ingredient.

You can also obtain it directly in Creative mode with:

/give @s com_iron_state_wrench_7jsq2ltd:my_sword 1

Abilities And Mechanics

State Cycling

The wrench changes block properties rather than replacing the block. This preserves the block and lets you experiment with its available orientations and settings.

Durability

The wrench has 250 durability and consumes durability when used. Its durability damage chance is 100%, so repeated state changes will eventually wear it out.

Repairing

Repair the wrench with iron ingots. Each repair ingredient restores 50 durability.

Progression And Strategy

• Carry the wrench when decorating, building redstone installations, or positioning directional blocks.
• Test it on one block before making a large group of changes, since each block’s available states differ.
• Use repeated interactions to find the desired orientation or setting.
• Keep iron ingots available if you expect to adjust many blocks.
• If a block does not respond, try another block with a clear orientation, toggle, level, or placement state.
