Gentleblade Warden
Quickstart
- In Creative mode, search for Gentleblade Warden Spawn Egg and use it on the ground.
- In Survival, explore a dark underground deep biome between Y=-64 and Y=0. Gentleblade Wardens can naturally spawn 16–64 blocks away from you.
- Use a bone or golden apple on the baby warden to tame it. A tamed warden becomes your companion and protects you.
- It already spawns wielding a netherite sword. You can use another netherite sword on it to equip its weapon slot.
- Interact with the warden to hear an encouraging message and give the nearest player within 5 blocks Regeneration II for 5 seconds.
For a quick test with commands, use:
/summon com_gentleblade_warden_sfzdkpgm:mywarden ~ ~ ~
Overview
The Gentleblade Warden is a cheerful baby warden companion with a powerful netherite blade. It begins as a passive creature that follows nearby players. Tame it with a bone or golden apple, and it will follow you, defend you from monsters, and teleport to you when it falls behind.

- The Gentleblade Warden Spawn Egg for Creative mode
- A baby-sized warden with a netherite sword
- Taming with bones or golden apples
- Companion behavior and monster protection
- A friendly interaction that grants Regeneration II
- Warden-like sniffing, vibration detection, and Darkness effects

How To Use
Finding or Spawning One
Gentleblade Wardens can naturally spawn:
- Underground in biomes tagged as deep
- Between Y=-64 and Y=0
- At light levels from 0 to 7
- 16–64 blocks from the player
- On difficulties from Peaceful through Hard
- In groups of one
You can also spawn one directly with the Gentleblade Warden Spawn Egg or the /summon command.
Taming
Use either of these items on an untamed Gentleblade Warden:
- Bone
- Golden apple
Taming is guaranteed when one of the accepted items is used successfully. Afterward, the warden becomes your companion and announces that you are friends.
Interacting
Use the interact or talk control while looking at the warden. It speaks an encouraging message and applies Regeneration II for 5 seconds to the nearest player within 5 blocks.
Equipping the Blade
Every Gentleblade Warden spawns with a netherite sword in its main hand. It accepts netherite swords in its weapon slot, allowing you to use a netherite sword to equip it.
Abilities And Mechanics
Companion Protection
A tamed Gentleblade Warden:
- Follows its owner
- Can teleport to its owner when separated
- Starts following when about 8 blocks away and normally stops around 3 blocks away
- Defends its owner from monsters within 32 blocks when it can see them
- Attacks monsters that hurt its owner
- Attacks monsters that its owner attacks
- Does not target other Gentleblade Wardens
Its melee attacks deal 16 damage.
Untamed Behavior
Before it is tamed, the warden follows nearby players within 24 blocks and stops several blocks away. It does not use the owner-protection behavior until it has a player owner.
Darkness Aura
Players near a Gentleblade Warden can receive Darkness within 20 blocks. The effect lasts up to 13 seconds and can be applied again after a short cooldown. Players with invulnerability are excluded from this effect.
This aura can make the warden useful for creating a mysterious atmosphere, but it may also reduce visibility around your base or adventure area.
Warden Senses
The Gentleblade Warden periodically sniffs its surroundings and listens for vibrations. It can investigate activity around it without requiring direct player control.
Durability
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 500 |
| Melee damage | 16 |
| Knockback resistance | 100% |
| Fire immunity | Yes |
| Movement speed | 0.3 |
| Follow range | 30 blocks |
The mob has a baby appearance and is visually scaled down to 55% of its normal size.
Crafting And Obtaining
There is no custom crafting recipe for the Gentleblade Warden or its spawn egg.
You can obtain one by:
- Finding it underground in a deep biome
- Using the Gentleblade Warden Spawn Egg in Creative mode
- Summoning it with:
/summon com_gentleblade_warden_sfzdkpgm:mywarden ~ ~ ~
Bones and golden apples are used for taming, while netherite swords are accepted as equipment.
Drops And Experience
When killed, a Gentleblade Warden makes one primary drop selection:
- 1–2 sculk catalysts
- 1–3 amethyst shards
- 1 echo shard when killed by a player
Looting can increase the quantities of these drops.
A player-killed Gentleblade Warden also has a small chance to drop a netherite sword. This sword is damaged to 25% damage when dropped, and Looting slightly improves the chance.
A player receives 5 experience points for killing the warden.
Progression And Strategy
- Locate or spawn a warden. Use the spawn egg for a safe introduction, or search the deep underground for a natural one.
- Tame it early. Carry bones or golden apples so you can turn it into a reliable companion.
- Keep it near danger. Its high health, complete knockback resistance, and 16-damage attacks make it effective against monsters.
- Let it respond to combat. Attack a monster yourself or allow a monster to hurt you so the tamed warden can recognize the threat.
- Use interactions for recovery. Talk to the warden when you need a short Regeneration II boost.
- Plan around Darkness. Keep the warden slightly away from important work areas if its 20-block Darkness aura makes building or storage inconvenient.
- Explore with it underground. Its fire immunity, climbing ability, strong health pool, and ability to teleport to its owner make it a durable cave companion.
