Description
Are your villages too peaceful? Feel like you don't have enough to do? Tired of the same old boring trades? Missing your kid sister getting into your stuff? Well, this is the mod for you! Crazy Eddie brings chaos to the table (or to a friends build if you are feeling prankish).
Mod Wiki
Crazy Eddie
Quickstart
- Open the Creative inventory and take a Crazy Eddie Spawn Egg.
- Use the egg in or near a village, preferably close to villagers, beds, bells, or village buildings.
- Watch the area and wait for Eddie to start causing random pranks.
- Use the interact button on Eddie to open Crazy Eddie's Deals.
- Choose a trade if you have the required items and enough inventory space.
Eddie is not affected by normal damage, so weapons will not remove him. If you want his pranks to stop, move him away from villagers, village buildings, beds, bells, and other signs of village activity.
Overview
Crazy Eddie is an invincible village prankster. He wanders around like a villager, interacts with nearby activity, and periodically creates random chaos around him.
He is:
- Persistent and unlikely to despawn normally.
- Immune to fire.
- Resistant to normal damage, including attacks from players and mobs.
- Able to open doors and climb.
- Likely to avoid zombies, zombie villagers, illagers, vexes, and zoglins.
- Able to be named with a Name Tag.
Eddie does not use normal villager trading. Interacting with him opens his own random deals menu.
What It Adds
- Crazy Eddie, a custom villager-like mob.
- Crazy Eddie Spawn Egg for Creative-mode testing.
- Automatic prank events around villages and active settlements.
- A random trading menu with unusual item exchanges.
- Player-visible prank effects involving blocks, mobs, terrain, and status effects.
How To Use
Finding or Spawning Eddie
Eddie can appear naturally as a single mob in village areas when suitable conditions are met. Natural spawning favors surface locations with light levels from 9 to 15 and common village ground such as grass, dirt, farmland, sand, gravel, stone, cobblestone, snow, or podzol.
For immediate testing, use the Crazy Eddie Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory. Eddie is not available through the normal summon command.
Interacting With Eddie
Look at Eddie and use the normal entity-interact control. A menu appears with a randomly selected group of deals.
Each interaction creates a fresh selection of 3 to 6 trades from Eddie's full trade pool. Select a deal to exchange the required items for its reward. Eddie checks your entire inventory, so ingredients may be split across multiple stacks. The trade will not complete if you lack the required items or cannot fit the reward.
Encouraging Pranks
Eddie checks for nearby activity before pranking. He is most active near:
- Villagers or zombie villagers.
- Beds and bells.
- Village-style buildings and furnishings.
- Player-built areas containing common house blocks.
Pranks happen automatically, usually after roughly 30 to 90 seconds when Eddie is near activity. No item or button is needed to trigger them.
Some pranks require a suitable nearby target. If no target is available, Eddie skips that prank and tries another one.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no custom crafting recipes for Crazy Eddie or his spawn egg.
Use the Crazy Eddie Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory, or look for Eddie spawning naturally in a suitable village area.
Deals
Eddie randomly offers 3 to 6 of these deals whenever you interact with him:
| Cost | Reward |
|---|---|
| 3 dirt | 1 diamond block |
| 40 emeralds | 1 stick |
| 1 emerald | 32 cobblestone |
| 16 wheat seeds | 1 golden apple |
| 2 diamonds | 1 dirt |
| 12 rotten flesh | 1 iron pickaxe |
| 8 sticks | 1 emerald block |
| 20 sand | 6 bread |
| 5 cobblestone | 16 torches |
| 3 emeralds | 48 oak planks |
Abilities And Mechanics
Block And Terrain Pranks
Eddie may randomly:
- Place water or a boat nearby.
- Place pumpkins or carved pumpkins.
- Place 1–3 torches.
- Place 1–2 wooden trapdoors.
- Place 1–4 colorful carpets.
- Place a flower pot containing a random flower.
- Place 1–3 cobwebs.
- Place cake, a melon, or a note block.
- Place a random bed or a lava source.
- Place a cobblestone obstacle on a nearby path.
- Toggle a nearby door, fence gate, or trapdoor open or closed.
- Ring a nearby bell.
- Place a sign reading
EdDiE wUz hErE. - Replace a nearby crop with another crop or plant.
- Place 1–4 random saplings.
- Replace 2–6 connected ground blocks with random concrete, wool, or terracotta.
- Remove two blocks to make a small hole.
- Remove a random nearby non-leaf block.
- Replace 1–3 logs in a natural tree with water.
- Strip most of the logs from a natural tree while leaving its highest log.
These effects can replace existing blocks, so Eddie can disrupt farms, paths, decorations, and buildings.
Mob And Player Pranks
Eddie may also:
- Spawn 1–3 random nearby mobs. Possible results include cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, horses, llamas, goats, rabbits, wolves, foxes, cats, bees, camels, pandas, polar bears, parrots, zombies, husks, drowned, skeletons, strays, spiders, cave spiders, creepers, witches, endermen, and slimes.
- Throw a snowball at a nearby target within about 10 blocks.
- Push a nearby cow, sheep, pig, or chicken.
- Apply Slowness to up to three nearby targets for about 4 seconds.
- Give himself a small random hop or sideways wiggle.
Pranks are random and do not all occur in the same area. Eddie cycles through a large pool of possible tricks, so his behavior is intentionally unpredictable.
Staying Safe
Keep Eddie away from:
- Important farms and crops.
- Redstone machines.
- Wooden structures.
- Valuable paths and decorations.
- Areas where lava, holes, hostile mobs, or cobwebs would be dangerous.
A fenced-off prank yard near a village is a good place to observe him without risking an important build.
Drops
Crazy Eddie normally cannot be killed by ordinary combat. If a player-caused kill is possible, he may drop:
- 1–3 paper.
- 1–4 sticks.
- 1–2 leather.
- 1–2 emeralds from a separate low-probability drop.
Looting can increase some of these drops and improves the chance of the emerald drop.
Progression And Strategy
Crazy Eddie has no level or upgrade system. The fun comes from choosing where to keep him and seeing which prank appears next.
For the best experience:
- Place Eddie near a village square so beds, bells, villagers, and buildings provide plenty of activity.
- Keep a safe distance from important structures.
- Use his trade menu whenever you need a random selection of unusual exchanges.
- Build a dedicated observation area with replaceable blocks and spare space for spawned mobs.
- Move Eddie away from village activity when you want a quiet settlement.
- Check nearby terrain after a prank, especially for lava, holes, cobwebs, hostile mobs, or changed crops.
