Quickstart

1. Find a cat and make a few Plates of Salmon using .
2. Use a plate on the cat to feed it, build trust, and heal it. Most cats become tame when trust reaches 0.65; a newly encountered cat will usually need about four plates.
3. Craft and place a Cat Bed with . A trusting cat nearby can rest on its own.
4. For a quick profile, sneak and use an empty hand on the cat. This shows its personality, mood, trust, and care levels; it also toggles sitting for an untamed cat or one you own.

To carry a cat, craft a Cat Carrier Bag with , then use the bag on the cat. Sneak-use the bag to set the cat down.

Overview

Whiskerbound Companions makes cats into companions with individual personalities, changing moods, and care needs. Build trust by feeding cats and staying nearby while their needs are met. Cats show their personalities through their behavior and occasional status messages.

How To Use

• Check a cat: Sneak-use an empty hand on it. For an untamed cat or one you own, this also toggles sitting. Using this on another player’s tamed cat displays its profile without changing its sitting order.
• Feed a cat: Use a Plate of Salmon on it. The plate is consumed and a bowl is returned.
• Carry a cat: Use the Cat Carrier Bag on it without sneaking. Sneak-use the bag to set the carried cat down.
• Help a cat rest: Place a Cat Bed near it. Cats with trust above 0.4 can rest when they find a bed nearby.

Abilities And Mechanics

Cats have a randomly assigned personality, such as Friendly, Curious, Independent, Timid, or Stubborn. Their mood responds to circumstances including trust, hunger, thirst, danger, injury, and how far they are from their owner. Sneak-use an empty hand to see their current profile and percentage levels for food, water, and rest.

Care levels decline gradually. A Plate of Salmon raises food and trust and heals the cat. Nearby source water helps restore thirst automatically. A nearby Cat Bed helps a trusting cat recover rest. Keeping food and water from getting too low helps protect trust; a tamed cat whose trust falls to zero may leave.

Progression And Strategy

Offer treats regularly and keep your cat close while its food level is healthy to build trust over time. Check its profile to spot low care levels or an unhappy mood.

Stubborn cats have a special taming routine: offer raw salmon or cod repeatedly, or use Plates of Salmon. Their progress is counted toward ten fish offerings before they become tame. Some well-trusted cats can also protect their owner from nearby threats, depending on their personality.
