Description:
VILLAGES ALIVE - A mod series that brings you helpful villagers to make your build easier.
Finally a villager that is useful! Meet Pickaxe Pete, the miner with one sole purpose... dig, dig, dig! As long as you are within the chunk he is, he will be mining and bringing you the mats you need for crafting, building, and decorating. Everything he mines will be placed in chests beside the house and as he gets one full, he will place another.
Place the Creative-only Miner marker to clear a large squared work zone (ground level up to 20 blocks high) centered on the chosen house footprint and instantly spawn a Miner’s house facing the player's direction with foundation, walls, torches, a stocked chest, and a usable red bed; the addon also prebuilds eight identical 14×14 quarries arranged in a balanced square ring around the house with a continuous cobblestone compound path connecting the house to every mine. Five seconds after the house finishes building Pickaxe Pete appears with an indestructible diamond pickaxe and begins automated quarrying, depositing mined resources into the chests beside the house. Pete is invulnerable, works one mine at a time in a fixed clockwise order locked to the house rotation, stops each quarry at y = -58, and only seals immediate exposed openings or hazards so he behaves like a quarry worker rather than a cave explorer. Only after a mine is truly complete will he move on to the next one.

Structures
- Miner's House — A brick building with stone brick flooring, torches, a stocked chest full of diamond pickaxes, and a red bed
- Eight Quarries — 14×14 mining shafts arranged in a square ring around the house
- Cobblestone Pathways — Continuous paths connecting the house to every quarry
How To Use
Placing the Compound
Use the Miner House Marker on any block to generate the mining compound. The placement process:
- Clears a large squared work zone up to 20 blocks high above ground level
- Builds the miner's house with foundation, walls, torches, and furnishings
- Creates eight identical 14×14 quarries in a balanced ring around the house
- Lays cobblestone paths connecting all structures
- Snaps the entire layout to the nearest cardinal direction
Pickaxe Pete's Behavior
Five seconds after the house finishes building, Pickaxe Pete appears and begins work:
- Mining Speed — Works approximately 25% faster than normal mining
- Work Pattern — Mines one quarry at a time in clockwise order
- Depth Limit — Stops each quarry at Y = -58
- Loot Storage — Deposits mined resources into the chests beside the house
- Ladder Access — Maintains ladder columns in each quarry for player access
- Invulnerability — Cannot be damaged or killed
- Persistence — Remembers his current mine and progress through chunk unloads and world reloads
Quarry Features
Each quarry includes:
- Surface and exterior torch lighting that remains in place
- Automatic ladder placement as levels are completed
- Sealing of exposed openings and hazards
- Interior shaft torches are removed as mining progresses
Pete focuses purely on quarry work rather than exploring caves—he seals hazards and continues his systematic mining pattern.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Miner House Marker cannot be crafted and is only available in Creative Mode. Find it in the Items category of the Creative inventory.
Abilities And Mechanics
Pete's Mining System
- Pete locks onto a single quarry until it is completely finished before moving to the next
- His assignment survives leaving the area, unloading chunks, or relogging
- Each quarry maintains the same size, shape, and depth regardless of underground features
- The clockwise mining order is locked to the house's orientation
House Contents
The miner's house spawns with:
- A chest fully stocked with 27 diamond pickaxes
- A usable red bed
- Torch lighting throughout
- A solid foundation and brick walls
Progression And Strategy
- Site Selection — Choose a relatively flat area; the mod clears 20 blocks vertically but works best on level terrain
- Orientation Planning — Position yourself to influence the cardinal direction the compound faces
- Resource Collection — Check the storage chests periodically to collect Pete's mining haul
- Multiple Compounds — Place additional markers elsewhere to establish more mining operations with their own dedicated Petes
- Quarry Access — Use the auto-generated ladders to explore completed quarry levels yourself
