Verdant Waygate

Quickstart

1. Craft Verdant Waygate Frame blocks and a Waygate Spark at a crafting table (recipes below).
2. Build a 4 blocks wide × 5 blocks tall rectangular frame using Verdant Waygate Frame blocks (the hollow interior is 2×3).
3. Hold the Waygate Spark and use it on the frame to ignite the portal. A glowing green portal fills the interior and a sound chime confirms activation.
4. Build a second waygate somewhere else — the farther away, the better.
5. Walk into either portal. Watch the action bar charge up, then you'll be teleported to the linked gate.

Overview

Verdant Waygate creates a persistent, world-spanning fast-travel network. Each activated waygate is saved globally and linked to every other registered waygate. Step inside a portal to charge it up, then teleport — by default to the farthest linked gate. Links work across unlimited distances and even across dimensions, because the network preserves registrations even when distant chunks are not loaded.

All materials are obtainable in standard survival: obsidian from lava-and-water, emeralds from trading or ore, ender pearls from Endermen, flint from gravel, and blaze powder from Blaze rods.

How To Use

Building a Waygate

Construct a frame that is 4 blocks wide and 5 blocks tall — exactly like a Nether portal but using Verdant Waygate Frame blocks. The corners are required. Frames snap neatly when placed adjacent to other frame blocks, making construction easier. The hollow interior will be 2 blocks wide × 3 blocks tall once the frame is complete.

Igniting the Portal

Hold the Waygate Spark in your hand and use (right-click / interact) on any part of the completed frame. If the frame shape is incorrect, the action bar will display a reminder message. On success, the interior fills with a luminous green portal and a chime plays. Your action bar confirms how many other waygates the new portal is linked to.

Travelling

Simply walk into the glowing portal interior. The action bar shows a charging indicator. After about 1.75 seconds of standing inside, you are teleported to another registered waygate (the farthest one by default). After arriving, a short cooldown (~4 seconds) prevents immediate re-teleportation.

Cross-Dimension Travel

Waygates in different dimensions (Overworld, Nether, End) are all part of the same network. As long as both waygates were activated at some point, the link is preserved regardless of whether the destination is currently loaded.

Abilities And Mechanics

• Charge time: ~1.75 seconds of standing inside the portal before teleport triggers.
• Cooldown: ~4 seconds after arriving before you can use a waygate again.
• Action-bar feedback: Real-time messages and sound cues during charging, activation, and linking.
• Farthest-first routing: When multiple waygates exist, you are sent to the one farthest from your current position.
• Persistent registry: All active waygates are saved with the world. Destroying a frame deregisters that waygate cleanly without affecting the rest of the network.
• Safe cleanup: Broken or invalid portals are automatically removed from the registry; valid long-distance portals are never pruned just because their chunks are unloaded.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with two gates. The first activated waygate will display "First Verdant Waygate opened. Build another far away to link it." until a second gate exists.
• Distance matters. Default routing favours the farthest registered gate, so spacing your network across the world or across dimensions maximises travel efficiency.
• Resource planning. Each frame requires 10 Verdant Waygate Frame blocks (crafted in sets of 4), so gather plenty of obsidian and emeralds before building. A full 4×5 frame needs at least 10 blocks (corners + edges, no fill).
• Expand the network. Every new waygate you activate joins the global network automatically. Build hubs at your base, your mine, the Nether fortress, and the End to create a complete fast-travel system.
