Mod Wiki
Underground Soulbound
Quickstart
- Craft and use the Soul Guide to open its menu. Choose Travel to/from the Underdeep, then enter the Underdeep. The Guide also lets you check your soul records and return to the Overworld.
- Explore and stay alert: monster encounters begin automatically. The Guide cannot summon them.
- In a battle, choose FIGHT or ACT to take your turn, then pick a SOUL lane in the dodge menu. Choose a lane other than the one the attack targets to avoid damage. Spare the foe with MERCY when it is ready.
- Craft a Worn Dagger for a melee weapon, or make Soul Shards to restore hunger.
Overview
Underground Soulbound is an Undertale-inspired adventure set around the Underdeep, a dark underground dimension. You travel there with the Soul Guide, face automatic encounters, and choose whether to defeat foes or spare them. Battles award Soul XP and Soul Shards; your Guide keeps track of your level, victories, and merciful resolves.
What It Adds
- The Underdeep: a night-dark subterranean area with deepslate terrain.
- Soul Guide: opens the adventure menu, soul records, and Underdeep travel options.
- Encounters: Heart Echo, Cave Stalker, Bone Watcher, Temmie, Papyrus, and Sans — Judgment Hall.
- Items: Soul Shard, a food item, and Worn Dagger, a craftable weapon.
How To Use
Travel and records
Use the Soul Guide and select Travel to/from the Underdeep. When you are in the Underdeep, choose Return home to go to the Overworld’s default spawn. Select Soul records to view your level, Soul XP, spared foes, and battles won.
Battles
Encounters start on their own while you play. In the battle menu:
- FIGHT strikes the foe; your battle strike deals 2 damage plus your level.
- ACT advances your ACT count and briefly slows the foe.
- MERCY spares the foe when it is ready.
- After FIGHT or ACT, the dodge screen marks the incoming lane. Pick MOVE LEFT, HOLD CENTER, or MOVE RIGHT to place your SOUL in a lane. Matching the marked lane means you take a hit; choosing another lane dodges it.
- Leave encounter ends the encounter without a battle reward.
Using the Soul Guide during an encounter opens the battle menu instead of the travel menu.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft these items at a crafting table:
Soul Guide — 2 amethyst shards, 2 redstone, and 1 book.

Soul Shard — 4 amethyst shards and 1 glowstone dust; the recipe makes 2.

Worn Dagger — 1 flint, 1 iron nugget, and 1 stick.

Abilities And Mechanics
Sparing and rewards
MERCY becomes available after three ACTs, or after at least one ACT when the foe has 25% health or less. Sparing any foe grants 12 Soul XP and 2 Soul Shards.
Defeating a foe grants the following battle rewards:
| Foe | Soul XP | Soul Shards |
|---|---|---|
| Heart Echo | 20 | 3 |
| Cave Stalker | 10 | 1 |
| Bone Watcher | 14 | 2 |
| Temmie | 12 | 2 |
| Papyrus | 18 | 3 |
| Sans — Judgment Hall | 22 | 4 |
Papyrus and Sans deal 4 damage when their marked lane hits; other encounter foes deal 2. Soul Shards restore 2 hunger points and can be eaten even when you are not hungry.
The Worn Dagger is a melee sword with 84 durability.
Progression And Strategy
You start at level 1. Every level requires Soul XP equal to 20 times your current level; extra XP carries forward. Higher levels increase your FIGHT damage, so winning battles helps you strike harder. The Soul Guide shows your progress.
ACTs help build toward MERCY and can slow the foe, while lowering its health can make sparing possible after just one ACT. Watch the marked lane each turn and pick a different one to dodge.
