Uncrafting Table

Quickstart

1. Craft the Uncrafting Table using the recipe below and place it down like any other crafting block. It takes up a single block space.
2. Right-click the table to open its interface.
3. Drop a crafted item into the Input slot on the left.
4. If that item has a known crafting recipe, its ingredients will appear in the Recovered Items grid on the right.
5. Click any one of the recovered ingredient slots to collect all of the visible ingredients at once, consuming one of the input item in exchange.

That's it — no fuel, no power, no waiting. It's an instant recipe reversal station.

Overview

The Uncrafting Table lets you undo crafting. Instead of turning raw materials into a finished item, you feed a finished item back in and get its original ingredients back out. It works with vanilla recipes and with modded/datapack recipes alike, since it reads directly from the game's normal recipe list rather than a fixed built-in list.

What It Adds

• Uncrafting Table – a placeable, single-block crafting station with its own interface.
• A dedicated GUI with an Input slot and a Recovered Items grid (up to 9 ingredient slots).
• On-screen hints that tell you the current state of the table:
  • "Place crafted item." — the input slot is empty.
  • "Take output = all." — a recipe was found and ingredients are ready to collect.
  • "No recipe found." — the item you placed has no known crafting recipe.

How To Use

1. Place the table in your world just like a crafting table or furnace.
2. Right-click it to open the Uncrafting Table screen.
3. Drop an item you want to reverse into the Input slot.
   • The table searches all known crafting recipes for one that produces the item you placed.
   • If a match is found, every ingredient from that recipe's crafting grid appears in the Recovered Items slots.
4. Take the ingredients. Clicking or shift-clicking any one of the filled output slots collects every visible ingredient at once — not just the one you clicked — and consumes one unit of the input item.
5. If you still have more of the same item in the Input slot, the table will immediately preview the next set of recoverable ingredients.
6. If no recipe matches the item you placed, the output area stays empty and the hint tells you no recipe was found.

Important: Uncrafting is an "all or nothing" action per click — taking one output item grants you the full set of ingredients shown, so make sure you have enough inventory space before you take from the output grid.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Uncrafting Table is crafted using a diamond, a piston, wooden planks, a crafting table, and TNT, arranged in a specific pattern.

Once you know the recipe, it will automatically be added to your recipe book at world join, and it survives explosions when placed (though it can still be mined, best with an axe, and will drop itself when broken).

Abilities And Mechanics

• Recipe lookup: The table checks every crafting recipe currently known to the game — vanilla, datapack, or mod-added — for anything producing the item you placed in the input slot. This means new recipes added by other content packs are automatically supported without needing an update to this mod.
• Ingredient preview: Up to 9 ingredient slots can be filled per recipe, matching the size of a standard 3x3 crafting grid.
• Bulk collection: Taking any single output slot grants the entire visible set of ingredients in one action, keeping the recipe's ingredient ratio intact rather than letting you cherry-pick individual materials for free.
• One-for-one consumption: Each full "take" consumes exactly one unit of the input item.

Progression And Strategy

Use the Uncrafting Table when you've crafted the wrong item, want to break down surplus gear back into raw materials, or need to recover resources from stacked/duplicate crafted goods without destroying them for scrap. Since it relies on whatever recipes are active in your world, it's especially useful in modpacks with large item webs, letting you reverse-engineer unfamiliar crafted items to discover what ingredients went into them.
