Sharktoad Ambusher

Quickstart

1. Find an ocean or river biome — Sharktoad Ambushers spawn there naturally in small groups, always fully submerged.
2. Take some damage to drop below half your health bar, then enter the water. The ambusher will immediately lock onto you and charge.
3. To spawn one manually, find the Sharktoad Ambusher Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs creative tab and use it on a water block.

Overview

Sharktoad Ambusher adds a single hostile aquatic mob: the Sharktoad Ambusher. It has the squat, wide body of a frog but the coloring and predatory aggression of a shark. It lurks motionless underwater until it senses a wounded player nearby, then rockets toward them for a punishing strike. Healthy players are ignored entirely, making this creature a calculated threat that punishes risky underwater exploration when you are already hurt.

Abilities And Mechanics

Detection — injured prey only While submerged, the Sharktoad Ambusher continuously scans within a 16-block radius. It only targets players who are alive, not in Creative or Spectator mode, and below half their maximum health. Healthy players are completely invisible to it.

Charge Once a target is detected, the ambusher launches itself toward the player at high speed. It tracks the closest qualifying target, reorients continuously, and can close distance quickly in open water.

Attack When it reaches melee range it deals 6 damage (3 hearts). After a successful hit there is a roughly 2-second cooldown before it can strike again, but it will keep swimming toward you throughout.

Breathes Underwater The Sharktoad Ambusher never needs to surface. It will pursue a target indefinitely while both are submerged.

Progression And Strategy

• Stay healthy in water. The ambusher is completely passive toward players above half health. Heal before diving if you know one could be nearby.
• Fight on land if possible. The ambusher only activates its charge behavior while it is submerged. Luring it onto shore removes its primary threat.
• Group spawns. Ambushers spawn in groups of 1–2 in oceans and rivers, so there may be more than one waiting in a given area.
• Early danger. With 12 hearts of health and a 3-heart bite, a single ambusher can finish off an already-weakened player very quickly. Avoid underwater exploration after tough fights until you have healed.
