Firewisp Seed

Overview

Firewisp Seed is a Java Edition mod for Minecraft 1.21.5 (Fabric). It adds the Firewisp Bush — a dense, red and orange bush that radiates dangerous heat. Any entity that touches it gets set on fire, and breaking it releases fire blocks at every position it occupied. Handle it with extreme caution.

What It Adds

• Firewisp Seed — a placeable item that grows a Firewisp Bush when placed in the world.
• Firewisp Bush — a 2×2×1 (width × depth × height) decorative multiblock plant made of glowing red-orange foliage. It continuously emits flame, smoke, and lava-ember particles.

How To Use

Throwing the Seed

Hold a Firewisp Seed and right-click in the air (while not targeting a block) to throw it as a projectile. This consumes one seed in Survival mode; in Creative mode seeds are not consumed. The thrown seed is visible in flight. On impact it ignites a 2×2 fire patch at the landing spot and triggers a short-lived spreading burn that places fire over nearby grass blocks, scorching those grass blocks into podzol.

Placing the Bush

Select a Firewisp Seed in your hand and right-click a surface to place the bush. The bush will orient itself to face you and automatically fill its 2×2 footprint. Make sure all four positions the bush will occupy are clear; blocked positions will simply be skipped.

Dangers

• Stepping on it: Walking over any part of the bush deals 1.5 hearts of fire damage and sets the entity ablaze for 4 seconds.
• Right-clicking it: Interacting with any part of the bush deals 1 heart of fire damage and sets the player on fire for 3 seconds. A burst of flame particles and a fire sound accompany the scorch.

Breaking the Bush

Breaking any one block of the bush causes the entire structure to collapse at once — no partial breakage. Every position the bush occupied immediately fills with a fire block, so stand clear before mining it. This collapse behaviour also works correctly for bushes that generated naturally or were loaded from a save.

⚠ The bush drops no items when broken. Fire will spread from the resulting fire blocks if flammable materials are nearby.

Progression And Strategy

• Firewisp Bushes are relatively easy to find once you explore caves or venture near lava in the Overworld, and they become extremely common in the Nether.
• Because breaking the bush floods the area with fire, bring a Fire Resistance potion before harvesting in tight spaces, especially underground.
• To safely clear a bush, consider using a bucket of water to extinguish the resulting fire blocks immediately after breaking, or simply avoid flammable surroundings.
• Since the bush drops nothing, its main use is decorative — placing it in fireproof builds (nether brick, stone, etc.) creates an atmospheric, ever-burning centrepiece.
• Firewisp Seeds in your inventory can be replanted in creative or survival builds anywhere you have two adjacent blocks of clearance for the 2×2 footprint.
