Description
A rooted, fleshy creeper spreads Bloodroot Blight each day, corrupting the world as blocks, water, and lava become living blood. Mobs that touch it transform into hostile, blood-covered monsters, while blood cows, clawed chickens, grasping grass, shaking vines, and watchful trees make the infected wilds even deadlier. Stop the spread by striking the Blood Creeper with a purification ray.
Mod Wiki
Bloodroot Blight
Quickstart
- In Creative mode, search the inventory for Bloodroot Blight Spawn Egg and use it to spawn the rooted creeper. In survival, it can spawn naturally in monster-spawning areas.
- Make a Purification Ray at a crafting table using an amethyst shard, an iron ingot, and redstone:
- Equip the ray, aim at the Bloodroot Blight from within 30 blocks, and use it. A successful hit removes the creeper and stops further blight spread throughout the world.
- Try the ray early: the blight spreads around the creeper at daybreak, and its reach grows over time.
Overview
Bloodroot Blight is a spreading infection centered on the Bloodroot Blight creeper. As it corrupts nearby terrain, water, and lava, the infected ground can hinder players and transform other mobs into hostile blood-covered creatures.
The ray halts new spread, but it does not restore corrupted blocks or cure transformed mobs.
What It Adds
| Content | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Bloodroot Blight | A rooted, damage-immune creeper that seeds corruption around itself. |
| Bloodstone | Corrupted terrain replacing most ordinary blocks. |
| Blood Pool | Replaces water and lava. |
| Blood Grass | Replaces plants and slows players who stand on it. |
| Blood Vines | Replace ordinary vines; standing on them causes nausea and a slight sway. |
| Bloodwood | Replaces logs, wood, stems, and hyphae. |
| Blood Cow, Blood Chicken, Blood Stalker | Hostile creatures produced when mobs touch blight. |
| Purification Ray | A craftable tool for striking the creeper and stopping the outbreak. |
How To Use
Start or observe an outbreak: Spawn a Bloodroot Blight with its spawn egg, or explore in survival and watch for one. At each daybreak, it corrupts blocks around itself. Leaves in the affected area disappear; plants become Blood Grass, vines become Blood Vines, wood becomes Bloodwood, liquids become Blood Pools, and most other blocks become Bloodstone. Chests, barrels, furnaces, and shulker boxes are spared.
Stop the spread: Use a Purification Ray while aiming at the creeper within 30 blocks. It is immune to ordinary damage, so attacking it with weapons will not defeat it. A successful ray hit removes Bloodroot Blight creepers and halts future spread. Clear remaining corrupted blocks by mining them, and deal with any hostile blood mobs separately.
Handle infected animals carefully: Blood Cows can be milked with an empty bucket and bred with wheat. Blood Chickens can be bred with seeds. Both are hostile, so approach with caution.
Crafting And Obtaining
The Purification Ray is crafted from one amethyst shard, one iron ingot, and one redstone at a crafting table. Its recipe is shapeless. In Creative mode, search for the ray or for the mod’s spawn eggs to try its content directly.
Bloodstone, Blood Pool, Blood Grass, Blood Vines, and Bloodwood are found where the infection has spread.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Mobs that stand in blight transform: cows become Blood Cows, chickens become Blood Chickens, and other eligible mobs become Blood Stalkers. Players do not transform.
- Standing on Blood Grass causes severe slowness. Blood Pools cause nausea and slowness; Blood Vines cause nausea and a slight sway.
- Blood Cows and Blood Chickens attack players despite their familiar forms. Blood Stalkers are undead attackers that can pick up equipment, break doors, and burn in daylight.
- Bloodroot Blight itself cannot be damaged normally. The Purification Ray is the way to stop it.
Progression And Strategy
Prioritize finding the creeper and crafting the ray before several daybreaks pass. The infected terrain can slow travel and make familiar areas dangerous, while transformed mobs add further threats. After stopping the source, clear hazardous terrain and defeat nearby Blood Cows, Blood Chickens, and Blood Stalkers to make the area safer.
