Mod Wiki
Beacon Riftcaster
Quickstart
Craft Rick’s Portal Gun at a crafting table:

- Hold the gun and use it while aiming at a clear spot on a solid block face. Place a second anchor the same way; the openings link when both are set.
- Walk through either opening to travel to the other. Keep two blocks of space clear beyond each opening.
- Try the Dimensional Portal Gun to link locations across dimensions. The Rick’s Portal Gun only links within one dimension.
Using a gun a third time replaces its previous pair. If you want to test the creatures right away, look for their spawn eggs in the Creative inventory.
Overview
Beacon Riftcaster revolves around creating linked portals for fast travel, then exploring rift-themed locations and facing creatures that may appear around portal exits. Its tools range from simple portal guns to models that can bridge dimensions, while Rift Cores from dangerous enemies help craft some of the more advanced equipment.
What It Adds
- Six portal-capable items: Rick’s Portal Gun, Beacon Riftcaster, Dimensional Portal Gun, Quantum Portal Gun, Advanced Portal Gun, and Experimental Portal Gun.
- Portal Calibrator and Rift Core, used in crafting.
- Four hostile creatures: Portal Hunter, Rift Guardian, Quantum Overlord, and Rift Colossus.
How To Use
Portal guns
Use a portal gun while aiming at a block surface to place an anchor. Place another anchor with the same gun to complete the link. The openings appear as particle outlines rather than solid blocks; walk through one to emerge at the other.
Each gun keeps its own linked pair for you. A new placement after the pair is complete starts a replacement pair. Only the Dimensional and Experimental Portal Guns can link across dimensions; with either, place one anchor in each dimension.
If an anchor will not place, try a different solid surface with two clear blocks beyond it.
Rift encounters
Portal travel can bring hostile encounters near the far opening. Portal Hunters may appear, and a more powerful rift foe can also emerge. The four creatures can also be spawned using their eggs from the Creative inventory.
| Creature | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Portal Hunter | A hostile creature that can teleport. Avoid looking directly at it; wearing a carved pumpkin can help prevent it from targeting you by sight. |
| Rift Guardian | A dangerous foe with heavy melee attacks and a sonic blast. It can also inflict nearby players with Darkness. |
| Quantum Overlord | A spellcaster that attacks with evocation fangs and can summon vexes. |
| Rift Colossus | A formidable illager-like enemy. |
Some rift enemies become faster and more resistant when badly wounded, so keep your distance and be ready for a tougher final phase.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the guns and calibrator at a crafting table. Rift Cores are obtained from rift creatures: player-killed Portal Hunters have a chance to drop one, while the Rift Guardian, Quantum Overlord, and Rift Colossus drop cores when killed by a player.
| Item | Recipe and notes |
|---|---|
| Beacon Riftcaster | |
| Portal Calibrator | |
| Dimensional Portal Gun | Links across dimensions. |
| Quantum Portal Gun | Uses a Rift Core and can place anchors from farther away. |
| Advanced Portal Gun | Uses Rift Cores and Portal Calibrators. |
| Experimental Portal Gun | Uses a Nether Star, Rift Core, and Portal Calibrators; can link across dimensions. |
Progression And Strategy
- Start with Rick’s Portal Gun to set up a local travel route.
- Keep Rift Cores from encounters: they are ingredients for the Quantum, Advanced, and Experimental models.
- Use a Dimensional or Experimental Portal Gun when your route needs to cross dimensions.
- Place portals where the approach and exit are unobstructed, and prepare for a fight when arriving in unfamiliar territory.
