The Under Void
Quickstart
- Bring 10 obsidian and a flint and steel to the Nether.
- Build an upright frame 4 blocks wide and 5 blocks high. Leave the four corners empty; the remaining 10 frame blocks must be obsidian. The opening is 2 blocks wide and 3 high.
- Use the flint and steel on an obsidian frame block. Step into the glowing portal to enter the Under.
- Be ready for a Void Stalker and a Void Wisp to appear when you arrive.
To try the creatures directly, use /summon the-under-void-ktbyryyh:void_stalker or /summon the-under-void-ktbyryyh:void_wisp (commands require permission).
Overview
The Under is a dark destination reached from the Nether through a void portal. It is inhabited by hostile void creatures. Portals also let you return to the Nether.

How To Use
Build the frame vertically with two obsidian blocks along the bottom, two along the top, and three along each side; leave the corners empty. In the Nether, use flint and steel on one of the frame blocks to light it. Walk into the portal to travel.
A portal frame can also be lit in the Under to return to the Nether. When you travel, an arrival gate and an obsidian platform are created for you.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no special crafting recipes. Use vanilla obsidian and flint and steel to make the portal; the Stalker and Wisp spawn naturally in the Under.
Player-caused kills of a Void Wisp drop a Phantom Membrane.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Void Stalkers and Void Wisps are hostile and can attack you.
- The Wisp flies, so watch above you as well as around you.
- Entering a portal carries you between the Nether and the Under. Allow a moment before entering again, as portals have a brief cooldown.
Progression And Strategy
Bring suitable armor, weapons, and supplies before entering. On arrival, the Stalker and Wisp appear nearby, so be prepared to defend yourself before exploring.
