Description:
.mcaddon file and apply both the behavior and resource packs to your world. The Great Stone Caster is a skeletal crusader priest — a durable, undead mob that roams the night with a singular purpose: hunting witches. He is completely passive toward players and most other mobs, making him a unique ally-by-proxy in dangerous biomes. Armed with an enchanted bow, he fires powerful flaming arrows at any witch he detects, igniting and rapidly eliminating them.
The Great Stone Caster ignores players entirely. He wanders without aggression unless a witch enters his detection range. Once a witch is spotted, he locks on and engages immediately.
He wields a bow enchanted with Flame I and Power III, shooting flaming arrows at targets up to 24 blocks away. Arrows are fired every 1–2 seconds. The combination of fire damage and high arrow damage makes him extremely effective at eliminating witches quickly.
If he loses his ranged weapon (e.g., from being submerged in water), he can switch to a close-range melee attack, dealing light physical damage while he closes in on his target.
You can attach a lead to The Great Stone Caster and tie him to a fence post. This is useful for stationing him as a guard, setting up a witch-hunting outpost, or simply using him as a decoration.

The Great Stone Caster has moderate knockback resistance, making him difficult to push around in a fight. He is immune to lightning conversion (he will not transform into a Stray). If he walks into powder snow, however, he will eventually convert into a Stray after 20 seconds, so keep him away from snowy terrain.
When defeated, The Great Stone Caster drops the following:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Bones | 2–5 (+ up to 2 per Looting level) |
| Arrows | 3–7 (+ up to 2 per Looting level) |
| Fire Charges | 1–3 (+ up to 1 per Looting level) |
| Cobblestone | 2–6 (+ up to 2 per Looting level) |
| Item | Base Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Glass Bottles | 45% | 1–3 per drop |
| Spider Eyes | 35% | 1–2 per drop |
| Item | Base Chance | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Enchanted Bow | 12% | Randomly enchanted at 10–20 levels |
| Chiseled Stone Bricks | 5% | 1–2, a keepsake "stone relic" |
Looting enchantments on your weapon increase the chances and quantities of most drops.
Early game: Let The Great Stone Caster do the heavy lifting in swamp and dark forest biomes where witches are common. Station him near witch huts using a lead to create a natural witch-elimination post.
Farming: If you want his rarer drops — particularly the enchanted bow — hunt him yourself with a Looting-enchanted sword. The 12% chance for an enchanted bow (boosted by Looting) makes him a worthwhile target for mid-game gear.
Biome awareness: He spawns naturally in swamps (non-mangrove), dark forests, and most standard monster-spawning biomes in groups of 1–2, in low-light conditions. Avoid placing or leading him through powder snow, as prolonged exposure will transform him into a Stray.
Defense tip: Because he ignores players and has 50% knockback resistance, he can act as a surprisingly effective passive guardian near witch-prone areas — just keep him leashed so he doesn't wander off.
