Terrain Tamer Skid Steer
Quickstart
Craft the skid steer, then place it on clear ground. Right-click any part of the assembled machine to climb aboard; this turns the placed machine into a drivable vehicle.
Try the controls shown on the vehicle HUD:
- WASD: Drive. The engine must be on.
- Space: Start or stop the engine.
- Shift: Engage or disengage the selected attachment.
- Ctrl + Shift: Cycle between Bucket, Mulcher, and Stone Grinder. Cycling disengages the attachment.
- Ctrl + Space: Install or remove the underbody track kit.
- Ctrl: Exit the vehicle.
To work, start the engine, select and engage an attachment, then drive toward the blocks you want it to process.
Overview
The skid steer is a rideable machine for clearing and working terrain. Its front attachment works on blocks ahead of the vehicle while the engine is running and the attachment is engaged. The HUD shows speed, heading, altitude, engine state, attachment, and track-kit state.
The vehicle begins with the track kit installed. With it installed, the skid steer floats at the surface in shallow water.
Attachments
| Attachment | What it does |
|---|---|
| Bucket | Scoops eligible soil blocks from the ground ahead, up to six blocks deep. Grass blocks, podzol, and mycelium yield dirt; other eligible blocks yield their own item. |
| Mulcher | Breaks logs and leaves ahead, producing their usual drops. With the track kit installed while in water, it can also break mangrove roots and muddy mangrove roots. |
| Stone Grinder | Grinds eligible stone blocks ahead. Stone yields cobblestone and deepslate yields cobbled deepslate; other eligible stones yield their own item. |
The bucket handles dirt, grass blocks, coarse dirt, rooted dirt, podzol, mycelium, sand, red sand, and gravel. It stops cutting down a column when it meets another solid block. The grinder handles stone, cobblestone, granite, diorite, andesite, deepslate, cobbled deepslate, tuff, calcite, and blackstone.
Items gathered by the bucket and grinder go directly into your inventory, or drop nearby if your inventory is full.
Crafting And Obtaining
The crafted item places the skid steer as a multi-part machine. Place it where there is room for the assembled vehicle. Right-click any part to board and convert the placed machine into the rideable vehicle.
To recover the item, hit the vehicle. It ejects its rider and drops a skid steer item. Exiting with Ctrl leaves the vehicle parked and available to board again.
How to install
This Java mod can be used on Windows and Mac PCs with the CreativeMode Launcher or any Minecraft launcher of your choice.
