Tame a soul fire monkey with coal and gain a fiery guardian by your side.
Mod Wiki
Soulflame Monkey
Quickstart
- Craft the Soulflame Monkey item, or obtain it with:
/give @s com_soulflame_monkey_byxoigdd:my_sword - Put at least one piece of Coal anywhere in your inventory.
- Hold the Soulflame Monkey in either hand and use it. One coal is consumed, and a Soul Fire Monkey appears in front of you already bonded to you.
- Let it follow you and test its guardian ability by allowing a hostile mob to attack you. Your monkey retaliates against nearby attackers.
- Use the item again while your bonded monkey is nearby to receive a short fire-resistance blessing instead of creating a duplicate. This still consumes one coal.
You can also use the Soul Fire Monkey Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory or summon a wild monkey with:
/summon com_soulflame_monkey_byxoigdd:soul_fire_monkey
Overview
Soulflame Monkey adds a fiery Soul Fire Monkey companion and a special item that bonds one to you using coal. Bonded monkeys follow their owner, attack threats, teleport back when they fall too far behind, and defend their owner when attacked.
What It Adds
| Content | Description |
|---|---|
| Soulflame Monkey | A single-use-per-use bonding item that summons and bonds a Soul Fire Monkey using coal. |
| Soul Fire Monkey | A tameable creature that can follow, fight, sit, breed, wear wolf armor, and defend its owner. |
| Soul Fire Monkey Spawn Egg | Spawns a wild Soul Fire Monkey. |
| Coal bonding | The special bonding item consumes coal and marks the summoned monkey as your guardian. |
How To Use
Bonding a Guardian
The Soulflame Monkey item searches your inventory for coal when used.
- With coal available, it consumes one coal and summons a bonded Soul Fire Monkey.
- Without coal, it does nothing and tells you that coal is required.
- The bonded monkey is named Soul Fire Monkey and is assigned to you.
- Using the item again while your bonded monkey is within 64 blocks does not create another guardian. Instead, you receive Fire Resistance for 5 seconds.
- The item can be used from either hand.
Giving Commands
Interact with your bonded monkey as its owner to make it sit or stand. A sitting monkey stays in place until commanded to move again.
A bonded monkey normally follows you, attacks skeletons, and helps attack targets that threaten you or that you attack. It can teleport back when it is panicking or has fallen far behind.
Finding Wild Monkeys
Wild Soul Fire Monkeys spawn:
- In Soul Sand Valley biomes
- On the surface of Soul Sand or Soul Soil
- In groups of 1–2
- At any brightness level
A wild monkey can also be tamed with a Bone, with a 33% chance per attempt. Coal bonding through the Soulflame Monkey item is the route that creates the special guardian bond and owner-defense effect.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Soulflame Monkey at a crafting table using bones, coal, soul torches, and leather:

The recipe produces one Soulflame Monkey item.
You can also obtain the content in Creative mode with the Soul Fire Monkey Spawn Egg, or use the summon command shown above to create a wild monkey.
Abilities And Mechanics
Guardian Protection
When a bonded monkey is present and you are hurt by another entity, the monkey retaliates against that attacker if it is nearby and in the same dimension.
- Retaliation reaches about 20 blocks horizontally.
- The counterattack deals 4 damage.
- Soul fire particles appear around the attacker.
Bonded monkeys also have a stronger health pool than wild monkeys and deal 4 damage with their attacks.
Fire Behavior
Soul Fire Monkeys are immune to fire, but lava still damages them. Keep them away from lava even though ordinary flames do not harm them.
Feeding And Healing
Feed a monkey to restore its health. It accepts the following foods:
- Porkchop and cooked porkchop
- Beef and cooked beef
- Chicken and cooked chicken
- Raw and cooked mutton
- Rabbit and cooked rabbit
- Fish, salmon, clownfish, and pufferfish
- Cooked fish and cooked salmon
- Rotten flesh
- Rabbit stew
Breeding
Adult Soul Fire Monkeys can breed when they are tamed and at full health. Feed two adult tamed monkeys any of these breeding foods:
- Chicken or cooked chicken
- Beef or cooked beef
- Mutton or cooked mutton
- Porkchop or cooked porkchop
- Rabbit or cooked rabbit
- Rotten flesh
Breeding produces a baby Soul Fire Monkey. Babies grow over time and can be fed the same breeding foods.
Wolf Armor
An adult tamed monkey can wear Wolf Armor.
- Use wolf armor on the monkey as its owner to equip it.
- Use shears on an armored monkey to remove the armor.
- A sitting monkey can be repaired with an Armadillo Scute.
- Wolf armor protects the monkey while it fights beside you.
Dyeing And Leashes
Tamed monkeys can have their collar dyed. They can also be attached to a lead for safer travel or kept near a base.
Progression And Strategy
- Gather coal before using the Soulflame Monkey item; every use consumes one piece.
- Bond the monkey before entering dangerous areas so its owner-defense ability is active.
- Carry meat to heal it during combat and keep two healthy adults for breeding.
- Equip wolf armor after the monkey becomes an adult for additional protection.
- Use the item again near your guardian before exploring fire-heavy areas to gain a brief Fire Resistance effect.
- Keep bonded monkeys away from lava, which damages them despite their fire immunity.
