A soul-bound dragon weapon that evolves from fiery crossbow to void-tearing lance.
Mod Wiki
Ender Dragon Crossbow
Quickstart
- Craft the Ender Dragon Crossbow using dragon breath, ender eyes, obsidian, a crossbow, and sticks (see recipe below).
- Hold the crossbow and use it — it behaves like a bound weapon that only you can wield effectively.
- Attack mobs in melee or shoot arrows to rack up kills. Every 15 kills, it becomes ready to evolve.
- Craft a Dragon Soul and have it in your inventory when your 15th kill lands — the crossbow will transform into the Ender Dragon Lance.
- Try sneaking and using the weapon for Dragon Breath, and a normal charged use for Volley (crossbow form) or Rift (lance form).
Overview
The Ender Dragon Crossbow is a soul-bound magic weapon that grows in power the more you fight with it. It starts as a fiery, arrow-shooting crossbow and, after enough combat kills and a rare crafting component, transforms permanently into the Ender Dragon Lance — a heavier melee weapon that tears open rifts in reality.
The weapon remembers who it belongs to. If another player picks it up, it senses the theft and reverts to a fresh, unleveled crossbow for its new owner.
What It Adds
| Item | Description |
|---|
| Ender Dragon Crossbow | The starting form of the weapon. Fires enchanted arrows and deals bonus melee damage. |
| Ender Dragon Lance | The evolved form, unlocked through kills and a Dragon Soul. Hits much harder and can tear open damaging rifts. |
| Dragon Soul | A rare crafting component required to trigger the crossbow's evolution into the lance. |
Crafting And Obtaining
Ender Dragon Crossbow
Crafted at a crafting table from dragon breath, ender eyes, obsidian, a vanilla crossbow, and sticks:
Dragon Soul
Crafted from dragon breath, an ender eye, an echo shard, and a ghast tear:
Keep at least one Dragon Soul in your inventory before your crossbow reaches its 15th kill — it is consumed automatically the moment the weapon evolves.
How To Use
- Melee attack: Swing the weapon like a sword. The crossbow form deals solid bonus damage; the lance form hits even harder.
- Sneak + Use: Unleashes Dragon Breath — launches a dragon fireball in the direction you're looking. Works in both forms.
- Use without sneaking, held briefly then released:
- As a crossbow, quick taps fire a fast single arrow (Rapid Shot) with a very short cooldown.
- Holding and releasing the use button (without sneaking) triggers Volley as a crossbow, or Rift once evolved into the lance.
- Arrows fired by the weapon set targets on fire, and can trigger nearby creepers to explode or detonate nearby TNT on impact.
- An on-screen action bar tracks your kill progress toward evolution, and shows cooldowns for your abilities while the weapon is held.
Abilities And Mechanics
| Ability | Trigger | Effect |
|---|
| Melee Strike | Attack a mob | Crossbow form deals heavy bonus damage; lance form deals even more. Kills count toward evolution. |
| Rapid Shot | Quick use (crossbow only) | Fires a single fast arrow with a very short cooldown. |
| Dragon Breath | Sneak + use | Launches a dragon fireball forward. Roughly a 5 second cooldown. |
| Volley | Charged use, crossbow form | Fires a spread of 5 fire arrows at once. Long cooldown (~12s). |
| Rift | Charged use, lance form | Tears open a void rift a few blocks ahead, dealing heavy magic damage and knockback to everything nearby. Long cooldown (~12s). |
All arrows fired by the weapon ignite what they hit. Getting a kill with any of these methods — melee or a tagged arrow — advances your progress toward evolution.
Progression And Strategy
- The weapon tracks your kills while in crossbow form. Once you reach 15 kills, it's ready to evolve.
- If you have a Dragon Soul in your inventory at that moment, it's automatically consumed and the crossbow transforms into the Ender Dragon Lance — a new item with its own stronger melee damage, higher durability, and access to the Rift ability instead of Volley.
- If you hit 15 kills without a Dragon Soul on hand, the weapon waits at "ready to awaken" until you obtain one.
- Both forms can be repaired using dragon breath, ender pearls, or obsidian, and can be enchanted like normal weapons.
- The weapon is soul-bound: giving it to or having it taken by another player causes it to reset to a fresh, zero-kill crossbow for its new wielder, so the evolved lance form cannot simply be handed off.
