Quickstart

1. Craft a Heavy Sniper Rifle and .50 Cal Tungsten-Core Rounds using the recipes below.
2. In Creative mode, get a Target Practice Dummy Spawn Egg from the Spawn Eggs tab and use it on the ground to place a target.
3. Hold right-click with the rifle to scope in. Left-click to fire. In Survival, each shot consumes one round from your inventory.

Overview

Sniper Showdown adds a scoped rifle, its ammunition, and an armored target for practicing precision shots. The rifle can fire while held in either hand; scoping is optional.

The Target Practice Dummy Spawn Egg is available in the Creative inventory’s Spawn Eggs tab.

How To Use

• Scope: Hold right-click while holding the rifle. Scoping narrows your view and reduces mouse sensitivity; release to return to normal.
• Fire: Left-click to shoot in the direction you are looking. The rifle has a brief cooldown of about 0.9 seconds between shots.
• Ammunition: In Survival, rounds are taken from anywhere in your inventory. If you have none, the rifle displays an “Out of .50 cal rounds” message. Creative players do not consume rounds.

Abilities And Mechanics

Rounds travel quickly in a straight line without dropping. A hit on a living target deals heavy damage; hitting the upper portion of its body (the top 23% of its height) deals double damage.

The Target Practice Dummy has 15 health and wears a full set of netherite armor enchanted with Protection IV, making it a sturdy target. Try shooting it while scoped, then practice aiming for the upper part of other targets.

Progression And Strategy

Keep a supply of rounds in your inventory and allow for the rifle’s short cooldown between shots. Use the dummy to practice lining up upper-body hits before taking the rifle into combat.
