Mod Wiki
Shadowmancer Cat
Quickstart
- Find one in the Overworld: the Shadowmancer Cat roams and attacks players.
- Try it in Creative: find its spawn egg in the Spawn Eggs tab, or use
/summon shadowmancer-cat-3qgqsbm6:shadowmancer_cat_3qgqsbm6. - Fight from a distance when you can: watch for its spell effects, keep moving, and break line of sight to avoid its ranged attack.
- Try its staff: the Shadowmancer’s Staff is in the Creative Tools & Utilities tab. Right-click to blast nearby monsters and Shadowmancer Cats upward. It has a long cooldown.
Overview
This mod centers on one roaming enemy: a black cat wizard that hunts players with close-range strikes and shadow magic. It is quick, can leap toward you, and becomes more dangerous when badly hurt.
What It Adds
| Content | What it does |
|---|---|
| Shadowmancer Cat | An Overworld creature hostile to players. It has 30 health and can survive one otherwise lethal hit. |
| Shadowmancer’s Staff | A rare drop from the cat. Its magic blast damages and launches nearby monsters and Shadowmancer Cats. |
| Spawn egg | Lets you place a Shadowmancer Cat in Creative Mode. |
How To Use
The cat spawns naturally in the Overworld, or you can place one with its Creative spawn egg. It cannot be tamed or directed; expect it to target players and attack on its own.
The Shadowmancer’s Staff is used directly from your hand: right-click to strike eligible nearby targets. It can hit monsters and Shadowmancer Cats, but not other kinds of creatures. After use, it goes on a long cooldown.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Close strike: When near a player, the cat deals 6 magic damage and knocks them upward.
- Shadow Bolt: At range and with a clear line of sight, it fires a bolt that deals 4 damage and applies Slowness II briefly.
- Shadow Nova: Every so often—and whenever its health is at or below half—the cat can blast an area around its target. The nova damages nearby players, slows them, and pushes them away.
- Frenzy: At half health, the cat moves faster and uses its nova for ranged attacks.
- Nine lives: The first time it would die, it instead recovers to half health and retreats briefly. Defeat it again to finish the fight.
Crafting And Obtaining
There are no recipe details for this mod. The cat appears naturally in the Overworld; its spawn egg and staff are available in Creative Mode. In Survival, defeating the cat for good drops 1–2 amethyst shards. It has a 1-in-20 chance to drop an enchanted book and a 1-in-200 chance to drop the Shadowmancer’s Staff.
Progression And Strategy
Keep moving and use solid cover to interrupt the cat’s line of sight before a Shadow Bolt lands. Avoid staying close when it begins a strike, and spread out when it casts a nova. Once it reaches half health, expect faster movement and more frequent area pressure. Its first apparent defeat is only a retreat—stay ready for the fight to continue.
