Mod Wiki
Sakura Sushi
Quickstart
- Open the creative inventory and find the Sakura Sushi tab for every item added by this mod.
- Grab Rice Seeds, Soybean Seeds, and Wasabi Seeds and plant them on farmland to start your garden. Sesame is grown from a separate Sesame Crop (harvested for Sesame Seeds).
- Craft a Nori Sheet from dried kelp, and Sushi Rice from rice and a bowl.
- Fish (or place a Fishing Farm next to water) to get cod, salmon, tropical fish, and pufferfish.
- Combine fish + Sushi Rice + Nori Sheet to make maki rolls, or fish + Sushi Rice alone for nigiri.
- Craft the Sakura Sushi Guide for an in-game written book covering the whole gameplay loop — great as your first item to read.
Overview
Sakura Sushi turns fishing and farming into a full kitchen experience. Grow rice, soybeans, wasabi, and sesame; catch fish from the water or a dedicated Fishing Farm block; and turn your harvest into nigiri, maki rolls, poke bowls, sake, and decorative serving platters. Everything crafted with this mod's items lives together in its own creative tab.
What It Adds
Crops & Farming
- Rice, Soybean, Wasabi, and Sesame crops, each dropping seeds and a mature ingredient (Rice, Soybeans, Wasabi, Sesame Seeds) when fully grown.
Fishing
- A Fishing Farm block that produces a random catch (cod, salmon, tropical fish, pufferfish, or Tuna) when used, as long as water is adjacent.
- Tuna, a craftable fish product made from cod and kelp.
Sushi & Sides
- Nori Sheets, Sushi Rice, Soy Sauce, and a Soy Sauce Dish for seasoning.
- Nigiri and Maki rolls for cod, salmon, pufferfish, tropical fish, and tuna, plus a wasabi-based Veggie Maki.
- Poke Bowls for every fish type, customizable with nori, sesame, and soy sauce.
- A Sakura Platter combining several rolls onto a Sushi Plate for a decorative finished dish.
Drinks & Furniture
- Sake, a drinkable rice wine.
- Sushi Plate and Soy Sauce Dish blocks for serving and dipping.
Guide
- The Sakura Sushi Guide item, which opens into a written book explaining the full crafting loop in-game.
How To Use
Growing Ingredients
Plant Rice Seeds, Soybean Seeds, or Wasabi Seeds on farmland like normal crops. Sesame grows as its own crop block. Breaking a fully grown crop (age 7) drops both extra seeds and the mature ingredient (Rice, Soybeans, Wasabi, or Sesame Seeds).
Fishing
Use a fishing rod as normal to catch salmon, cod, tropical fish, and pufferfish. Alternatively, place a Fishing Farm with at least one side touching water and right-click it to receive a random catch, including a chance at Tuna.
Making Nori and Sushi Rice
- turns dried kelp into a Nori Sheet.
- turns rice into Sushi Rice using a bowl.
Nigiri (fish over rice)
- — Cod Nigiri
- — Salmon Nigiri
- — Pufferfish Nigiri
Maki Rolls (nori + rice + fish, stacked)
- — Cod Maki
- — Salmon Maki
- — Pufferfish Maki
- — Tropical Maki
- — Veggie Maki (uses wasabi instead of fish)
- — Tuna Maki
Poke Bowls (fish + rice + bowl)
- — Cod Poke Bowl
- — Salmon Poke Bowl
- — Pufferfish Poke Bowl
- — Tropical Fish Poke Bowl
- — Tuna Poke Bowl
Once crafted, sneak-use a poke bowl on a block to mix in Nori Sheet from your inventory; sneak-use again to add Sesame Seeds. Dip the finished bowl on a placed Soy Sauce Dish block to add soy seasoning. Missing an ingredient will show a message telling you what's needed.
Sauces and Drinks
- — Soy Sauce (soybeans + glass bottle)
- — Soy Sauce Dish (bowl + soy sauce)
- — Sake (rice, sugar, and a glass bottle)
Drink Sake by right-clicking with it in hand. It gives a brief Nausea effect and returns an empty glass bottle when finished (unless in Creative mode).
Furniture and Presentation
- ... (see Tropical Fish Poke Bowl above)
- — Sushi Plate (bricks)
- — Sakura Platter (Salmon Nigiri, Tropical Maki, Veggie Maki, and a Sushi Plate)
Seed Extraction
If you need seeds directly from harvested ingredients:
- — Rice Seeds from Rice
- — Sesame Seeds from Sesame Crop item
- — Soybean Seeds from Soybeans
- — Wasabi Seeds from Wasabi
Fishing Farm and Tuna Crafting
- — Fishing Farm (oak log, fishing rod, bamboo, water bucket)
- — Tuna (cod + kelp)
The Guide Book
- — Sakura Sushi Guide (paper, nori sheet, and a book)
Right-click the Guide item to open a written book covering crops, fishing, rolls, poke bowls, sauces, sake, and furniture — a handy in-game reference at any time.
Crafting And Obtaining
All ingredients other than fish are grown from seeds on farmland (rice, soybeans, wasabi) or from the Sesame Crop block. Fish come from normal fishing or the Fishing Farm block. Every prepared dish, sauce, drink, and piece of kitchen furniture is then crafted at a crafting table using the recipes listed above.
Abilities And Mechanics
- Fishing Farm: Right-click to get a random catch, but only works when water touches one of its sides; otherwise it warns you that it needs water.
- Poke Bowls: Support sequential sneak-use additions (Nori, then Sesame) and soy seasoning via a Soy Sauce Dish block, changing their displayed name as you customize them.
- Sake: Drinkable status item that applies temporary Nausea and recycles its glass bottle.
- Sakura Sushi Guide: Converts into a written, uneditable book with multiple pages of tips the moment you use it.
Progression And Strategy
Start by securing a steady rice supply, since Sushi Rice underlies nearly every dish. Expand into soybeans and wasabi for sauce and veggie rolls, and set up a Fishing Farm near a water source for a reliable fish supply beyond casting a rod. From there, branch into nigiri and maki for quick dishes, poke bowls for a customizable meal, and finally assemble a Sakura Platter and Sushi Plate for a decorative, complete sushi spread. Sake and Soy Sauce Dishes round out the experience as finishing touches for your sushi kitchen.
