Phantom Player Hunter

Quickstart

1. Open the Creative inventory and find the Phantom Player Hunter spawn egg in the Spawn Eggs tab.
2. Use the egg on the ground to spawn a hunter immediately.
3. Give yourself armor before approaching it—the hunter carries an enchanted weapon and may be wearing enchanted armor.
4. Watch for its name, listen for its laugh, and keep moving. Hunters pursue nearby players, use combat buffs, and can teleport with thrown ender pearls.

With commands, you can also use:

• /summon phantom-player-hunter-bq7si46l:phantom_player_hunter_bq7si46l
• /give @s phantom-player-hunter-bq7si46l:phantom_player_hunter_bq7si46l_spawn_egg

Moderators can use /phantom_player_hunter spawn or /phantom_player_hunter force_spawn to spawn one hunter near every online player and unlock natural hunter spawning.

Overview

Phantom Player Hunter adds named, player-shaped enemies that stalk players after a short grace period. Each hunter appears with a random name, an enchanted weapon, and a varied set of armor.

Hunters are hostile monsters with strong health, fast movement, and a long detection range. They pursue the nearest living player within 64 blocks and announce their presence through laughter and threatening messages.

Armor pieces are selected independently, so a hunter may have an incomplete armor set.

How To Use

Spawn Egg

The Phantom Player Hunter spawn egg is available in the Creative Spawn Eggs tab. Use it on a block to place a hunter in the world. Spawn eggs work even while natural hunter spawning is still locked.

Natural Spawning

Hunters do not naturally appear immediately. Natural spawning unlocks when either of these conditions is met:

• Any player completes Minecraft's vanilla Suit Up advancement, normally by obtaining a piece of iron armor.
• Ten Minecraft days pass without anyone completing the advancement.

Once unlocked, natural hunter spawning remains active. The server announces “Hunters have joined the game.” when the advancement unlocks spawning.

Timeout Warning

If the ten-day grace period expires first:

• The server announces “They have noticed you!”
• Lightning strikes near every online player.
• Hunters begin appearing naturally.

The lightning warning is placed roughly 8–30 blocks from each online player.

Moderator Commands

Players with the required moderator command permission can use:

• /phantom_player_hunter spawn
• /phantom_player_hunter force_spawn

Both commands unlock natural spawning if necessary and attempt to spawn one hunter about three blocks away from every online player.

Abilities And Mechanics

Player Tracking

A hunter searches for living players within 64 blocks. When it finds a player, it:

• Selects that player as its target.
• Chases and attacks using its hostile combat behavior.
• Laughs when it notices a new player.
• Occasionally sends a threat to the whole server.

Possible threats include:

• “I found you, <player>.”
• “<player>, nowhere is safe.”
• “Run, <player>!”

Combat Utilities

Hunters periodically use one of several combat tricks:

• Heal themselves when badly injured.
• Gain Regeneration and Absorption while recovering.
• Gain Resistance for a short time.
• Gain Speed for a short time.
• Throw an ender pearl.

The ender pearl is a real projectile. When it lands, the hunter can teleport to the impact location, allowing it to close distance or appear in an unexpected position. Pearls are used much less often than the hunter's other abilities.

Equipment

Each hunter spawns with:

• One iron or diamond sword or axe.
• A random selection of leather, chainmail, iron, or diamond armor.
• Random enchantments on its equipment.

Hunters can pick up suitable loot, so dropped equipment may also affect their gear during an encounter.

Sounds

Hunters have no ordinary ambient sound loop. Their main warning signs are:

• A maniacal laugh when they acquire a player target.
• Threatening messages in chat.
• The sound of an ender pearl when they use their teleporting attack.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Phantom Player Hunter has no crafting recipe.

You can obtain or encounter one by:

• Using the spawn egg from the Creative Spawn Eggs tab.
• Using /summon with the entity ID.
• Using a moderator spawn command.
• Waiting for natural spawning to unlock through Suit Up or the ten-day timeout.

Defeating a hunter drops its equipped weapon and armor, along with a player head.

Progression And Strategy

• Complete Suit Up early if you want to control when natural hunter spawning begins.
• Keep a shield, ranged weapon, and spare food ready before the grace period ends.
• Pay attention to visible names and laughter; a hunter may have already detected you before it reaches you.
• Avoid fighting in cramped areas where an ender pearl teleport can put the hunter beside you.
• Expect enchanted diamond equipment on some hunters, but remember that other hunters may have weaker or incomplete armor.
• If you are not ready for a hunt, use distance and terrain to break up the chase rather than relying only on walking speed.
• After the warning lightning appears, assume natural hunters can begin arriving at any time.
