Mystery Box

Quickstart

1. Craft the Mystery Box:

1. Place it on a clear surface. It automatically creates a two-block-wide double-chest-shaped box and faces toward you.
2. Make sure the box has at least one included item in its prize pool.
3. Right-click either half of the box to draw a random prize.
   • Survival players must have at least 12 experience levels; 12 levels are consumed when the draw begins.
   • Creative players can use the box without spending experience.
4. Watch the prize rise from the box, then pick up the item that appears.

Sneak-right-click the box in Creative mode to configure its prize pool.

Overview

The Mystery Box is a placeable double-chest-shaped prize machine. Each use selects one random item from its included pool, displays it during a short reveal animation, and drops the prize beside the box.

The box can use the registered items available in the game, including items from other installed content. Each box stores its own included and excluded item settings.

How To Use

Place the Box

Place the Mystery Box like a normal block. The second half is created automatically beside it, so make sure both spaces are replaceable before placing.

The box faces toward the player who placed it. You can interact with either half.

Draw a Prize

Right-click either half without sneaking.

• Survival: Requires 12 experience levels and consumes them when the draw starts.
• Creative: Does not require or consume experience.
• The box chooses randomly from its included items.
• The selected item rises from the box during the reveal.
• After the reveal, the prize is dropped near the box for you to collect.

Only one draw can run at a time. Wait for the current prize to appear before starting another draw.

If the box has no included items, it will not start a draw.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Mystery Box using the displayed recipe:

The recipe uses oak slabs, oak planks, an ender chest, smooth stone slabs, and a nether star.

The recipe is provided to players automatically when they join, and it can also be unlocked with the normal recipe-unlock controls.

Abilities And Mechanics

Random Prize Pool

Every non-air item registered in the game is available for configuration. Items that are included can be selected as prizes; excluded items cannot.

The box selects randomly from the current included pool. A prize is created as a single item and dropped beside the box after the reveal.

Creative Configuration

Creative players can sneak-right-click either half of the box to open the Mystery Box configuration screen.

• Green slots are Included.
• Red slots are Excluded.
• Click an item slot to switch its state.
• Use the arrow controls to move between pages.
• Use Select all to include every listed item.
• When all items are already included, the button becomes Deselect all.

Configuration changes are saved to that individual box. Players outside Creative mode cannot open or change the configuration.

Experience Cost

Survival draws cost exactly 12 experience levels. The box checks the cost before starting, so a player with fewer than 12 levels cannot use it.

Creative players bypass the experience requirement.

Progression And Strategy

• Configure the box in Creative before giving it to players who will use it in Survival.
• Exclude unwanted items to make the prize pool more focused.
• Keep at least one item included, or the box will remain inactive.
• Place the box where the dropped prize can be collected easily.
• Leave room around the box for its two-block footprint and the prize reveal.
• Use separate boxes for different prize pools, such as building materials, tools, or rare rewards.
