Description
Scrappy dirt armor offers cheap early game protection - until rain, fire, or lava tears it apart.
Mod Wiki
Mudscrap Armor
Quickstart
- Gather dirt and sticks.
- Use a crafting table to make the four armor pieces.
- Equip them in the helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots slots.
- Try the armor on land first, then test it in water or rain. Keep it away from fire and lava—the armor loses durability rapidly in wet or burning conditions.
In Creative mode, the pieces are available in the equipment item groups.
Overview
Mudscrap Armor is a cheap, scrappy armor set made from dirt and sticks. It provides modest protection and is useful when you need armor quickly, but environmental exposure wears it down:
- Water and swimming damage the armor.
- Exposed rain damages the armor.
- Fire and lava damage it more severely.
- Standing under a solid cover protects the armor from rain.
The armor has no special powers or active abilities.
What It Adds
The set contains four wearable pieces:
| Piece | Protection | Maximum durability |
|---|---|---|
| Mudscrap Armor Helmet | 1 | 28 |
| Mudscrap Armor Chestplate | 2 | 40 |
| Mudscrap Armor Leggings | 2 | 38 |
| Mudscrap Armor Boots | 1 | 33 |
Wearing the complete set provides 6 points of armor protection.
How To Use
Equip each piece in its matching armor slot:
- Helmet: head slot
- Chestplate: chest slot
- Leggings: legs slot
- Boots: feet slot
The armor is most useful for short trips, early-game protection, or situations where dirt and sticks are easier to obtain than stronger materials.
Environmental damage
Mudscrap Armor is damaged while any part of the set is equipped and you are:
- In water
- Swimming
- Exposed to rain or thunderstorm weather
- On fire
- Standing in lava
Water and rain apply steady durability damage. Fire and lava apply heavier damage, so remove the armor before entering dangerous heat if you want to preserve it. Rain only affects players with open sky above them; a roof or other overhead cover prevents rain damage.
Damage is applied to every equipped Mudscrap Armor piece, so the whole set can wear down together.
Crafting And Obtaining
All four pieces are crafted at a crafting table using dirt and sticks. Each recipe creates one piece.

Mudscrap Armor Chestplate

Mudscrap Armor Leggings

Mudscrap Armor Boots

The recipes unlock when you have obtained the required dirt and sticks.
Abilities And Mechanics
Mudscrap Armor is passive armor:
- It provides normal armor protection based on the piece worn.
- It has separate durability for each piece.
- It can be enchanted using armor enchantment systems.
- Sticks can be used to repair the armor.
- It does not grant movement abilities, attack effects, or resistance powers.
Because environmental damage is applied frequently, water, rain, fire, and lava can destroy the armor quickly. Keep spare pieces or sticks available when using it outdoors.
Progression And Strategy
- Craft the helmet and boots first if you only have enough materials for partial protection.
- Complete the set for the full 6 armor points.
- Use it for early exploration and ordinary land travel.
- Carry replacement pieces when traveling through rainy regions.
- Store the set before swimming or entering the Nether’s lava-filled terrain.
- Build a roof or shelter before waiting out rain while wearing the armor.
- Repair damaged pieces with sticks instead of allowing them to break.
