Description
I made this for myself originally, but you can use my 201 block wide x 201 block long high-tech futuristic city built primarily with iron-based materials and illuminated to keep the high tech boogey men away. PS... the obsidian wall is great for repelling creeper hordes.

Ironlight Megacity
Quickstart
- Enter Creative mode and open the Creative inventory.
- Find and take the Ironlight Megacity Wand from the Equipment category.
- Move to a clear area at least 201 × 201 blocks wide. The city can reach up to 40 blocks high, so leave plenty of vertical space too.
- Aim at the block where you want the city’s lower level to begin and use the wand. The wand launches a projectile; when it hits, Ironlight Megacity is placed around the impact point.
- After placement, explore the central plaza, follow the road grid, and enter the residential buildings. The wand has a short 2-second cooldown between uses.
You can also obtain the wand with:

There is no crafting recipe for the wand.
Overview
Ironlight Megacity is a large futuristic city structure with a 201 × 201 block footprint and a maximum height of 40 blocks. It is built around a strict grid of illuminated roads, towering iron architecture, glass facades, residential districts, and civic spaces.

How To Use
Placing the City
The Ironlight Megacity Wand places the entire city when its projectile reaches a target. Aim at a suitable block or open area, then use the wand to fire.
The city is positioned around the projectile’s impact location, so choose a point with enough open terrain in every direction. Avoid placing it close to existing builds, important terrain, or deep underground areas: the structure occupies a very large area and may replace blocks within its footprint.
Because the structure is large, placement may take a moment while the city is built.
Wand Controls
- Use the wand: Fire the placement projectile.
- Aim at a block or location: Choose where the city should be centered.
- Cooldown: Wait about 2 seconds before using the wand again.
- Creative mode: The wand is intended for Creative play and is available from the Creative inventory.
City Layout
Outer Wall
A thick Obsidian wall surrounds the entire city. Its upper edge is finished with a continuous strip of glowing Crying Obsidian, creating a bright defensive outline around the megacity.
Roads and Paths
Inside the wall, the city follows a planned grid of:
- Main roads
- Broad avenues
- Smaller pedestrian paths
- Raw Iron Block paving
- Smooth Quartz lane accents
- Sea Lantern road markings and lighting
The road network provides clear routes between the major buildings and the central plaza.
Buildings
Iron Blocks form the primary structure of the city’s skyscrapers, residences, and civic buildings. Large windows and glass walls use Light Blue Stained Glass and Tinted Glass for a clean futuristic appearance.
Sea Lanterns are arranged vertically along the corners of buildings and major towers, producing a regular illuminated pattern across the skyline.
Roofs use modern flat and sloped designs with Iron Bars, Smooth Stone slabs, and subtle lighting details.
Exploring the Interiors
Residential buildings are designed to be entered and explored. Look for doors at ground-level entrances, then inspect the rooms and multi-room layouts inside.
The interiors include clean lighting and are suitable for:
- Touring the city
- Setting up temporary living spaces
- Decorating rooms
- Using the buildings as a futuristic base
- Planning routes between residential areas and civic spaces
Central Plaza
The central plaza is the main gathering point of Ironlight Megacity. It contains a large illuminated fountain made from Iron and Glass, with Raw Iron pathways surrounding the courtyard.
Use the plaza as a starting landmark when navigating the city. From there, follow the illuminated paths outward toward the residential blocks, towers, civic complexes, and perimeter wall.
Progression And Strategy
Ironlight Megacity does not use a progression system or crafting chain. The main experience is exploration, building customization, and turning the completed city into a functioning Creative-world base.
For the best results:
- Place the city in a clear, level region.
- Start at the central plaza to learn the layout.
- Use the road grid and Sea Lantern markings as navigation aids.
- Explore residential interiors before choosing a base location.
- Use the outer wall as a natural boundary for decorating or expanding nearby terrain.
- Add your own furniture, signs, farms, transport routes, and redstone systems inside the existing buildings.
- Keep the Ironlight Megacity Wand available if you want to place another city in a separate area.
