Description
The Illusioner cannot be summoned with the standard /summon command, so use its spawn egg or wait for it to appear naturally.
Illusioner Arrowbane adds the Illusioner, a hostile Illager built around ranged combat. It hunts players and villagers with a bow and can appear in dark areas of several overworld environments.
An Illusioner has:
The Illusioner is a hostile mob with the Illager, monster, and mob classifications. It uses arrows as its ranged ammunition and automatically begins attacking after it detects a valid target.
It prioritizes:
It must be able to see a target before attacking. If it loses sight of a target, it can continue remembering that target briefly before selecting another.
The Illusioner Spawn Egg is available in the Creative inventory. Use it on a block to place an Illusioner wherever you want, including arenas, village defenses, and combat tests.
Use the Illusioner Spawn Egg on a suitable block. Once spawned, the Illusioner immediately receives its ranged attack behavior and begins looking for players or villagers.
Because the mob is not available through normal /summon use, the spawn egg is the main way to create one on demand.
Illusioners can naturally spawn:
Light up villages and nearby terrain to reduce the locations where Illusioners can appear.
The Illusioner attacks from a distance and can fire repeatedly at intervals of roughly 1–3 seconds. It can target anything it can clearly see within its search range, so open ground around villages is especially dangerous.
Useful tactics include:
The Illusioner uses a bow-like ranged attack with a 90-degree field of view. It searches for valid targets within 32 blocks and fires arrows at targets within 15 blocks.
It can reselect targets when necessary and reacts when damaged, making it difficult to ignore once combat begins.
Illusioners are dangerous around villages because they actively hunt villagers as well as players. They can navigate through doors and pursue targets across varied terrain.
Illusioners are harmed by lava, taking 4 damage per tick while inside it. They have no special resistance to knockback, so attacks that push them away can help create distance.
Drops listed below require the Illusioner to be killed by a player:
The bow drop has random wear, so it may not be fully durable when collected.
