Honeyguard Swarmmail

Quickstart

1. Gather honeycombs, a bee nest, and an iron chestplate from the world.
2. Craft any piece of the Honeyguard Swarmmail set at a crafting table — all recipes are unlocked automatically when you join a world.
3. Equip a piece in its armor slot. You will immediately gain a Slowness effect while it is worn.
4. Take a hit from any enemy — angry bees will spawn around you and chase the attacker.

Overview

Honeyguard Swarmmail is a honey-themed armor set built around a simple trade-off: your movement slows down, but anyone who attacks you gets swarmed by bees. The more pieces of the set you wear, the larger the retaliatory swarm — up to four bees at once with a full set. It rewards a defensive, stand-your-ground playstyle and punishes enemies that close in for melee strikes.

The chestplate is the most resource-intensive piece, requiring an iron chestplate at its core alongside honeycombs and a bee nest.

Abilities And Mechanics

Slowness

Every piece applies a Slowness I effect continuously while it is equipped in its correct armor slot. Wearing the full set stacks this from four separate sources, keeping the effect active at all times. Plan your movement accordingly — this armor is not suited for hit-and-run tactics.

Bee Retaliation

When you take damage from an enemy while wearing one or more Honeyguard pieces, bees spawn near you and immediately target the attacker:

The bees spawn clustered around your position and are permanently aggressive toward the attacker until they are dealt with. This works against any living enemy — mobs or players — as long as the damage source can be traced back to an entity.

Note: The bees are real, persistent entities. They may wander, aggro other players or mobs nearby, and generally cause chaos after the initial attacker is dealt with.

Progression And Strategy

• Start with a single piece if you want to test the swarm effect without committing to full slowness. Even one bee on retaliation can distract a melee attacker.
• Full set gives the maximum four-bee swarm but imposes Slowness from all four slots simultaneously. Position yourself in a chokepoint or enclosed space where your reduced speed is less of a liability.
• Pair with ranged or area weapons — since you will be moving slowly, having a bow or trident lets you deal damage while the bees handle close threats.
• Avoid open PvP or mob-dense arenas without a plan for the bees — they do not distinguish between threats once their target is dead, and loose angry bees can quickly become a problem for you or your allies.
