Gunpowder Quarry Pickaxe

Quickstart

1. Gather 3 gunpowder and 2 sticks.
2. Craft the pickaxe at a crafting table:

1. Equip the Gunpowder Quarry Pickaxe in your hotbar.
2. Mine a block with it. The mined block becomes the center of a 30 × 30 × 30 block quarry, clearing the surrounding area and generating normal block drops.
3. Check the cleared area and collect the materials before starting another quarry.

Overview

The Gunpowder Quarry Pickaxe is a high-capacity mining tool designed to clear massive underground areas quickly. Mining a single block triggers a large quarry centered on that block.

It is especially effective for clearing stone, deepslate, ores, obsidian, and other hard blocks.

What It Adds

• A single-stack quarry pickaxe
• A 30 × 30 × 30 block clearing effect when mining
• Fast mining for many stone and ore blocks
• Normal block destruction, allowing blocks to generate their usual drops
• Extremely high durability

How To Use

Hold the pickaxe and mine a block normally. When the block is mined:

• The mined block is used as the center of the quarry.
• The area extends 14 blocks in the negative directions and 15 blocks in the positive directions from that center.
• All blocks within the resulting 30-block-wide cube are destroyed.
• Destroyed blocks use normal destruction behavior, so eligible blocks can produce their usual drops.

Plan the center carefully. A quarry can remove terrain, structures, storage areas, or valuable blocks in its entire volume.

Crafting And Obtaining

Craft the Gunpowder Quarry Pickaxe at a crafting table using gunpowder and sticks.

The crafting pattern uses:

• 3 gunpowder across the top row
• 1 stick in the center
• 1 stick in the bottom-center slot

The result is one Gunpowder Quarry Pickaxe.

Abilities And Mechanics

Quarry Blast

Mining a block with the pickaxe clears a 30 × 30 × 30 cube centered on the mined block. This affects a total volume of up to 27,000 blocks, excluding air and any blocks outside the quarry area.

The effect is a clearing action rather than a visual explosion. It does not require separate gunpowder after the pickaxe has been crafted.

Mining Speed

The pickaxe has a mining speed of 12 for:

• Stone
• Deepslate
• Cobblestone
• Granite
• Diorite
• Andesite
• Tuff
• Coal ore
• Iron ore
• Copper ore
• Gold ore
• Redstone ore
• Lapis lazuli ore
• Diamond ore
• Emerald ore
• Obsidian
• Netherite blocks

Durability

The pickaxe has 10,000,000,000,000 durability. It loses durability when used, but its enormous durability allows for extensive quarrying.

Drops

Blocks cleared by the quarry use normal destruction behavior. Ores and other blocks can therefore produce their usual drops, subject to the normal rules for the block and tool being used.

Progression And Strategy

• Use the pickaxe after locating a resource-rich area so one quarry can expose or collect many blocks at once.
• Start quarries away from your base, farms, villages, and storage rooms.
• Build collection and storage space before clearing large areas; one quarry can produce a very large number of drops.
• Mine the first block near the center of the area you want to clear, since the quarry extends 14 blocks one way and 15 blocks the other.
• Use separate quarry centers for adjacent areas, leaving enough overlap to avoid narrow walls between cleared sections.
• Keep valuable structures outside the 30 × 30 × 30 clearing volume.
