Goat Stalker And Something
Quickstart
- Load into any Overworld world. Both monsters — the Goat Stalker and Something — spawn naturally near you after a short delay. No crafting is required.
- To immediately trigger an encounter without waiting, use the command
/stalkermod (or the typo-friendly /stalkemod) in chat. This forces a spawn and clears any existing stalker of the same type.
- Watch your surroundings and listen for the creepy bass countdown music — it signals that a monster is closing in.
- To test spawning directly, use a Goat Stalker Spawn Egg or Something Spawn Egg from the Creative inventory.
Overview
Goat Stalker And Something adds two hostile horror monsters to the Overworld. Each one silently locks onto a single player and stalks them through a sequence of unsettling apparition behaviors before launching a melee chase. Only one Goat Stalker and one Something can exist in the world at a time — each tracks its own target and vanishes when that target dies or is killed. The experience is designed around dread, audio tension, and scripted scare moments rather than straight combat.
What It Adds

Both stalkers have 46 HP, deal 8 damage per hit, and have a follow range of 96 blocks. Something Minions have 16 HP, deal 4 damage, and last up to 90 seconds before disappearing.
How To Use
Natural Spawning
Both monsters spawn naturally in the Overworld near active players. Horror events — apparitions, tunnel scares, and audio stings — do not trigger until 10 minutes after a player is first tracked, and only one event plays at a time so they never stack.
Commands
Use /stalkermod or /stalkemod to trigger events and force spawns on demand. Forced spawns remove any existing stalker of the same type first.
Audio Cues
When a stalker begins closing in, you will hear the creepy bass countdown music. The sound loops and intensifies as the creature draws nearer. Tense background music layers in as the encounter escalates. You will also briefly experience Darkness and Blindness effects during the countdown phase to heighten the atmosphere.
Abilities And Mechanics
Goat Stalker
- Window Peering — Materializes outside a window, holds position while staring in, then slowly slides and fades behind the wall.
- Block Lurking — Appears from behind solid blocks, pauses, then slides back behind cover before beginning a chase.
- Right-Look Apparition — Appears just to the right of where you're looking. If you turn to look directly at it, it vanishes. If you ignore it long enough, it charges.
- Chase — Once unlocked by any of the above events timing out or by the distance countdown reaching zero, the Goat Stalker sets you as its target and attacks on contact.
Something
- Cave Climbing — Climbs into view on a cave wall, stares at you for several seconds, then drops and fades before charging.
- Corner Lurking — Peers around a corner; if you look at it, it slips back. If you don't, it comes around to chase.
- Block Lurking — Slides out from beside blocks to begin a chase.
- Look Mechanic — Looking directly at Something during an apparition phase causes it to vanish. Ignoring it causes it to charge.
- Tunnel Event — Rarely, you may be pulled into a generated torch-lit mineshaft passage for a brief apparition scare, then returned to your original location.
- Minion Summoning — Certain Somethings (those not spawned from a block lurk event) can summon up to 3 Something Minions every 4 seconds once actively chasing. Minions spawn near you, pursue you, and — if mob griefing is enabled — can break soft obstructing blocks to reach you.
Something Minions
- Temporary: despawn after 90 seconds.
- Unlock their chase if you look at them.
- Can break soft blocks when within 16 blocks of their target (on a short cooldown).
- Drop 6 XP on death.
Death Penalty
If you are killed by a Goat Stalker, Something, or a Something Minion, you respawn inside a freshly generated mineshaft-style tunnel near your death site. The tunnel is built from planks, logs, rails, torches, and cobwebs — eerie but survivable. You also receive Blindness for 5 minutes upon respawning there.
Progression And Strategy
- Early game: The 10-minute delay before horror events gives you time to gear up. Use this window to prepare armor and weapons.
- Dealing with Something: Look directly at it during apparition phases to dismiss it without a fight — but stay alert, because ignoring it is far more dangerous.
- Dealing with the Goat Stalker: Its right-look apparition vanishes when spotted, but its block lurk and window events will eventually force a chase regardless.
- Minion management: Something Minions are weaker but relentless and block-breaking. Clear them quickly before focusing on Something itself.
- After a stalker kill: The creature despawns. A new one can naturally spawn again later, maintaining the one-per-type world limit.
- Commands for practice: Use
/stalkermod to trigger specific events, learn each behavior pattern, and prepare for natural encounters.
