Frostbound Staff

Quickstart

1. Craft the Frostbound Staff with a crafting table:

1. Put the staff in your hotbar and hold right-click to charge it.
2. Keep holding for at least 2 seconds, then release to launch a frostball where you are aiming.
3. Strike a living target with the staff or use it to launch frostballs. The staff grants Resistance V when its defensive power is available.
4. Aim a frostball at a water source to turn it into ice.

The staff is also available in the Combat tab of the Creative inventory. It does not require ammunition.

Overview

The Frostbound Staff is a combat and utility item that lets you:

• Launch damaging frostballs.
• Knock enemies backward with powerful impacts.
• Freeze water source blocks into ice.
• Gain temporary Resistance V while fighting or preparing a shot.

What It Adds

Frostbound Staff

The staff is a single-item weapon that can be used in either hand. It has two main functions:

• Frostball attack: Charge and release the staff to fire a visible snowball-like frostball.
• Frostbound defense: Using the staff or striking an enemy can grant a strong temporary Resistance effect.

How To Use

Frostballs travel in the direction you are looking. After firing, the staff has a 2-second firing cooldown.

Crafting And Obtaining

The recipe unlocks after you enter a world. It produces one Frostbound Staff and requires:

• 1 snowball
• 2 blue ice
• 2 amethyst shards
• 1 stick

The complete crafting layout is shown in the Quickstart recipe above.

Abilities And Mechanics

Frostballs

A charged frostball:

• Deals 10 damage to a living target.
• Applies strong knockback, sending the target backward and slightly upward.
• Disappears when it hits an entity or block.
• Converts a water source block it strikes or passes through into ice.

Only water source blocks are frozen; the frostball does not freeze every flowing-water block.

Resistance

The staff grants Resistance V for 10 seconds when:

• You begin using it with right-click, or
• You hit a living target with the staff.

The defensive ability has its own 10-second cooldown. This cooldown is separate from the frostball’s firing cooldown, so the staff can provide defense while you fight even when you are not launching projectiles.

Progression And Strategy

• Carry the staff when crossing rivers, lakes, or other bodies of water to create temporary ice paths.
• Charge a frostball before approaching dangerous enemies so Resistance is active as you engage.
• Use the knockback to push enemies away from cliffs, hazards, or yourself.
• Keep moving after firing while waiting for the short firing cooldown.
• For close combat, strike enemies with the staff to refresh its defensive power when available.
