Emberwing Glider
Quickstart
- Obtain an Emberwing Glider from the Combat section of the Creative inventory, or craft one with .
- Craft a Fire Booster with .
- Hold the glider in one hand and the Fire Booster in the other, then right-click the glider. The booster is attached and provides a 512-use powered-flight reserve. In Survival, the Fire Booster is consumed when attached.
- Equip the glider in the chest slot by right-clicking it while your other hand is free.
- Jump from a height and start fall-flying as you would with an elytra.
- While gliding, hold a Fire Booster in either hand and right-click to activate the attached booster. Look in the direction you want to surge.
You can also craft a glider with a booster already attached:

Overview
The Emberwing Glider is an elytra-like chest item with an optional fire-powered boost. It lets you glide normally, then add forward thrust while airborne by activating an attached Fire Booster.
The glider has 677 durability and the attached booster has a separate 512-use reserve.
What It Adds
| Item | Function |
|---|---|
| Emberwing Glider | A chest-slot glider that enables elytra-style fall-flying |
| Fire Booster | Attaches to a glider and provides powered forward flight |
Both items are available in the Combat Creative inventory tab.
How To Use
Equipping the glider
Hold the Emberwing Glider and right-click it with your other hand empty. It swaps into your chest slot like chest armor.
If you are attaching a booster, hold the glider in one hand and the Fire Booster in the other before right-clicking. After attachment, free your other hand before trying to equip the glider.
Gliding
With the glider equipped:
- Gain some height.
- Jump or step off a ledge.
- Start fall-flying as you would with an elytra.
- Steer normally while looking where you want to travel.
The glider loses 1 durability every 20 ticks while you are fall-flying in Survival or Adventure mode—approximately one durability per second of active gliding. Creative players do not consume glider durability.
Attaching a Fire Booster
A Fire Booster can be attached to an unmodified Emberwing Glider by holding both items and right-clicking the glider. The attachment provides 512 powered-flight uses.
A glider can hold only one booster. Once a booster is attached, another booster cannot be attached to that glider, including after its reserve is depleted.
Activating powered flight
Equip a glider with an attached booster, begin fall-flying, and right-click while holding a Fire Booster. The booster activates and pushes you in the direction you are looking.
Powered flight:
- Adds forward thrust continuously while active.
- Is limited to a maximum movement speed of 2.4 blocks per tick.
- Uses 1 reserve unit per tick in non-Creative play.
- Stops when you land, stop fall-flying, or the reserve reaches zero.
- Deactivates automatically when the booster is depleted.
A booster provides approximately 25.6 seconds of continuous powered flight in non-Creative play. Creative players do not consume the attached reserve.
Vanilla fireworks cannot boost the Emberwing Glider.
Crafting And Obtaining
Emberwing Glider
The basic glider uses 5 sticks and 3 wool. Any wool color can be used.
Fire Booster
The Fire Booster uses:
- 6 iron ingots
- 1 copper ingot
- 1 fire charge
- 1 redstone
Pre-boosted Emberwing Glider
The pre-boosted recipe combines one Emberwing Glider with one Fire Booster. The result has a fully charged 512-use booster already attached.
Abilities And Mechanics
- The Emberwing Glider occupies the chest armor slot.
- It behaves like an elytra for starting and controlling a glide.
- Its durability and the Fire Booster’s reserve are separate.
- The booster thrust follows your look direction rather than automatically aiming forward.
- The booster only works during fall-flying.
- Landing or leaving fall-flying immediately disables powered flight.
- A depleted booster remains attached but cannot be activated again.
- Fireworks do not provide propulsion for this glider.
Progression And Strategy
Start with the basic glider for reliable elytra-style travel, then add a Fire Booster when you need extra forward momentum. Use short bursts for takeoffs, climbs, or crossing large gaps instead of holding the boost continuously.
Watch the glider’s durability during long journeys and reserve the booster for situations where its speed matters most. For immediate powered flight, craft the pre-boosted Emberwing Glider rather than attaching the booster manually.
