Crying Obsidian Reaver

Quickstart

1. Gather a netherite sword, crying obsidian, obsidian, and an amethyst shard.
2. Craft the Crying Obsidian Reaver at a crafting table using the recipe below.
3. Equip it in your hand and attack an enemy — it deals massive bonus damage on every hit.
4. Right-click (or use the item-use action) to unleash a devastating ground slam on nearby players. This ability has a long cooldown, so save it for the right moment.

Overview

The Crying Obsidian Reaver is a cursed netherite-tier sword forged from crying obsidian and amethyst shards. It hits far harder than an ordinary sword and carries a terrifying secondary ability that can instantly cripple another player by draining their health and destroying their armor. It's a high-risk, high-reward weapon best suited for PvP or boss-style encounters.

Crafting And Obtaining

The Reaver is crafted at a crafting table by combining a netherite sword with crying obsidian, obsidian, and amethyst shards in a specific pattern.

The blade can only be repaired using netherite ingots, which restore a portion of its maximum durability.

Abilities And Mechanics

Crushing Strikes Every melee hit with the Reaver deals substantial bonus damage on top of its already high base damage, making it capable of dropping most foes in only a few swings.

Ground Slam Using the sword (right-click / use action) triggers a ground slam:

• Plays a roaring sound and spawns an explosive particle effect at your location.
• Any other player within 8 blocks has their health dropped to a single heart.
• All of their equipped armor (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots) is instantly shattered and removed.
• If no other players are nearby, the slam fizzles with no effect and no cooldown is consumed.

This ability has a long recovery time (around 30 minutes) before it can be used again. If you try to use it while it's recovering, you'll get a message telling you how much longer you need to wait.

Durability The sword has high maximum durability but takes damage frequently with use, so keep netherite ingots on hand for repairs.

Enchanting The Reaver can be enchanted like a normal sword, accepting sword enchantments up to a high enchantment value.

Progression And Strategy

• Treat the Reaver as an endgame PvP weapon — the crafting cost (a netherite sword plus rare Nether materials) reflects its power.
• Use its bonus damage to end fights quickly in melee combat.
• Save the ground slam for group encounters or duels where stripping an opponent's armor and health in one move can turn the tide — but plan around its lengthy cooldown, since you can't rely on it repeatedly.
• Keep netherite ingots stocked for repairs so the blade doesn't break mid-fight.
