Blueberry Frostwing
Quickstart
- Find the Bluewood Grove — explore snowy mountains or cold highland regions until you spot purple and blue trees with rainbow-colored leaves. The biome also generates sprawling goblin castles.
- Harvest Mountain Blueberries — right-click a Mountain Blueberry Bush to pick 2–4 blueberries. Bushes regrow after five minutes.
- Tame a Frostwing — find a wild Frostwing flying in the area, hold blueberries in your hand, and right-click it repeatedly until tamed. Heal injured Frostwings the same way.
- Saddle and ride — place a saddle on your tamed Frostwing, then mount it. Hold W to fly forward; release to stop. Press R (rebindable under Controls → Blueberry Frostwing → "Frostwing Freeze Ability") to trigger a directional freeze burst.
- Craft Frostlight Flight Boots for personal flight and night vision — see the recipe below.
- Storm the goblin castle for Magma Ore, magma gear, and powerful Goblin Guardian weapons.
Overview
Blueberry Frostwing transforms snowy mountain terrain by introducing the Bluewood Grove biome — a humid, colorful forest filled with purplewood and bluewood trees, violet moss, and rainbow leaves. The biome hides large goblin castles packed with leveled enemies, caged prisoners, and a fearsome boss. You can tame a dragon-like Frostwing as a flying mount, craft magma-forged armor and weapons from goblin loot, or wear Frostlight Flight Boots for personal controlled flight.

How To Use
Taming and Riding a Frostwing
Wild Frostwings are hostile to players. To tame one, approach while holding Mountain Blueberries and right-click repeatedly until hearts appear and it becomes yours. Once tamed:
- Right-click with a saddle to equip it, then mount with right-click.
- Hold W to fly forward; release W to stop.
- Press R to fire a freeze burst in the direction you're looking. This ability has a cooldown.
- Feed your Frostwing blueberries to heal it.
Frostlight Flight Boots
Equip in the boots slot. While wearing them:
- Hold Jump to ascend; hold Sneak while airborne to descend — giving you controlled personal flight.
- You emit a soft glow and gain Night Vision while the boots are equipped.
Goblin Castles
Large multi-story castles generate in the Bluewood Grove. Each level has progressively stronger goblin spawns. Towers contain iron-bar cages housing Cage Goblins — right-click a cage to release them (they are not hostile to you by default). The cage at the very top of the castle holds the Mutated Goblin Boss:
- Freeing it triggers a boss announcement message.
- It can move and attack even inside its cage, swinging through the bars for heavy damage.
- Defeating it drops high-tier loot including Goblin Guardian weapons that launch Tiny Guardian Goblins.
Magma Armor and the Fire Resistance
Wearing pieces of the magma armor set provides fire resistance ticks, making it ideal for fighting fire goblins and navigating hazardous areas.
Magma Weapons
The Magma Sword and Magma Axe can launch fireballs on use, with a short cooldown between shots.
Crafting And Obtaining
Wood Planks
Purplewood Planks (from Purplewood Logs):
Goblin Guardian Weapons
The Goblin Guardian Staff, Goblin Guardian Sling, and Goblin Guardian Wand are not crafted — they drop exclusively from defeating the Mutated Goblin Boss atop the goblin castle.
Abilities And Mechanics
Frostwing Freeze Burst
- Activated by pressing R while riding (or the Frostwing uses it autonomously when targeting an enemy within ~9 blocks).
- Has a cooldown: ~3.5 seconds when used autonomously, ~8 seconds when triggered by a rider.
Frostlight Flight Boots Flight
- Hold Jump to rise, hold Sneak to sink.
- Passive effects: soft light aura and Night Vision as long as the boots are worn.
Mutated Goblin Boss Cage Combat
The boss does not need to be freed to become dangerous. It actively seeks nearby players while still caged, moves around inside its enclosure, and deals heavy swipe attacks (~7 hearts) through the bars. Approach the top-castle cage with caution.
Goblin Guardian Weapons
These weapons fire Tiny Guardian Goblins as living projectiles. Each weapon has a shared cooldown between shots (~2.5 seconds).
Progression And Strategy
- Early game — explore snowy mountains to find the Bluewood Grove. Gather Mountain Blueberries and wood to establish a base. The colorful wood types are fully compatible with vanilla plank recipes.
- Mid game — raid the outer levels of the goblin castle to collect Magma Ore from Fire Goblins. Craft the magma armor set for fire resistance and the magma weapons for their fireball capability. Tame a Frostwing for fast aerial mobility.
- Frostlight Boots — if you prefer flying without a mount, farm enough diamonds alongside blueberries to craft the Frostlight Flight Boots. Night Vision makes cave and nighttime exploration much safer.
- Late game — push to the top of the castle and confront the Mutated Goblin Boss. Prepare for a tough fight; it hits hard through the bars before you even open the cage. Defeating it rewards you with Goblin Guardian weapons that summon minion goblins, giving you a powerful ranged option for future encounters.
- Tip: Keep a Frostwing tamed and saddled for quick escapes from castle combat. Its freeze burst can stagger groups of goblins, buying time to reposition.
