Witherite Sword

Quickstart

Craft the Witherite Sword at a smithing table using a Spire Armor Trim Smithing Template, a diamond sword, and a netherite ingot. Hold it in your main hand and hold your normal Use control to block. Face attackers to catch their melee hits.

For the armor abilities, craft and equip all four Witherite armor pieces. While wearing the full set, double-tap Jump to start flight, or sneak and use the item in your hand to fire a projectile in the direction you’re looking.

Overview

Witherite equipment centers on a charcoal-gray sword that can block incoming damage. A complete Witherite armor set also grants limited flight and a ranged attack.

What It Adds

How To Use

Hold the sword in your main hand and hold Use to block. Blocking works against explosions and projectiles, as well as attacks from the front. Non-fireball projectiles are knocked back; fireballs are stopped and put out. Blocked melee attackers are slowed, and effects from blocked hits are removed.

Blocking has limits: melee hits from behind can get through, and hits from a Warden, Ravager, or Iron Golem briefly interrupt your block. In Survival, each blocked hit uses sword durability.

The sword deals 8 damage and has 2,031 durability. The four Witherite tools also have 2,031 durability each. Armor pieces have these protection and durability values:

Abilities And Mechanics

Full-set flight

Wear the helmet, chestplate, leggings, and boots, then double-tap Jump within a short interval. Flight lasts up to 60 seconds: hold Jump to rise, release it to hover, and sneak to descend. It works outside Creative mode. When the timer runs out, flight has a five-minute cooldown. Removing any piece ends flight.

Witherite shot

While wearing the full set, sneak and use the item in your hand to fire toward your aim. This ability does not require the sword to be held, but it uses the held item’s normal Use action. Shots deal 8 damage; every fourth shot in the sequence is powered and deals 18 damage. Allow at least 1.2 seconds between shots.
