Wayfarer Satchel
Quickstart
Craft a Wayfarer’s Satchel at a crafting table:

Use the satchel to open its menu. Choose Deposit inventory to store items, or Withdraw a stack to take stored items back. Sneak and use the satchel to toggle auto-pickup.
For upgrades, craft and place a Tinkerer's Bench, then interact with it while you have a satchel and the matching crafted module in your inventory. The Wayfarer’s Compass opens settings.
Overview
The Wayfarer’s Satchel stores items separately from your regular inventory. It starts with room for 27 stacks and can be upgraded to 54. Satchel contents are tied to each player; by default, they’re kept when you die.
How To Use
- Use the satchel: Open its menu to deposit inventory, withdraw a stored stack, or toggle auto-pickup.
- Auto-pickup: When enabled, nearby dropped items are collected if you have a satchel in your inventory. The default pickup radius is 2 blocks.
- Use the Compass: Open the settings menu to change death protection, auto-pickup defaults, sound effects, and the Dark or Light UI theme.
- Install modules: Craft a module, then interact with a Tinkerer's Bench and select it. Installation consumes the module and applies it to your personal satchel.
Crafting And Obtaining
Craft the Tinkerer's Bench and Wayfarer’s Compass at a crafting table:
- Tinkerer's Bench:
- Wayfarer’s Compass:
Craft upgrade modules at a crafting table, then install them at the bench:
| Module | Effect | Recipe |
|---|---|---|
| Reinforced Lining | Increases capacity from 27 to 54 stacks. | |
| Magnet Core | Extends auto-pickup radius to 5 blocks. | |
| Crafting Kit | Adds a satchel-menu shortcut to receive a crafting table. | |
| Smelting Core | Converts eligible incoming items before storing them. | |
| Ender Link | Adds a satchel-menu shortcut to receive an Ender Chest. | |
| Filter Module | Adds pickup and deposit filtering options. | |
| Silent Step | Suppresses satchel and bench feedback sounds. |
Abilities And Mechanics
- Storage: Deposit inventory to move items into the satchel; items that do not fit remain in your inventory. The menu lets you withdraw a stored stack.
- Filtering: With Filter Module installed, choose Off, Whitelist, or Blacklist in the satchel menu. Enter item IDs such as
minecraft:cobblestone. Filters apply to items being stored, including manual deposits. - Smelting: Smelting Core converts raw iron, raw gold, and raw copper into ingots, and beef, porkchop, chicken, cod, and salmon into cooked food as they enter storage.
- Death protection: The Compass setting Keep satchel contents on death is on by default. Turning it off clears stored contents when you die.
Progression And Strategy
Start by using the satchel menu to make room in your inventory. Add Reinforced Lining for more storage, then install Magnet Core if you want to collect drops from farther away. Filter Module can help keep unwanted items out, while Smelting Core handles a selection of ores and foods automatically.
